I walked out of the meeting room, my presence commanding attention as the men around me bowed their heads in respect.
I nodded curtly, my eyes scanning the room as I made my way towards Marcello, who was standing by the window, phone pressed to his ear.
As I approached, Marcello caught my eye and nodded, his expression serious. I raised an eyebrow, intrigued, and Marcello quickly wrapped up his call.
"What is it, Marcello?" I asked my tone firm but controlled.
Marcello hesitated, his eyes darting around the room before settling on mine. "It's about Rainer, sir," he said, his voice low.
My eyes narrowed. "What about Rainer?"
Marcello took a deep breath before speaking. "He's been targeted, sir. Someone's attempted his life like they knew he had important news to deliver."
My anger ignited a slow-burning fire that threatened to consume me. I felt my face heat up, my jaw clenched in rage.
