The warm water of the hot spring wrapped around Grace like a comforting embrace. Its gentle ripples were soothing the tension knotted deep in her muscles. It was a rare moment of peace in her current life that was dominated by preparation for survival.
She leaned her head back against the smooth rock edge of the spring and let out a slow breath as the steam curled around her face.
The week had been grueling for her... and everyone else living on the top three floors except for Davian and Rune. Training sessions had pushed their bodies to their limits, hours spent stockpiling supplies, and the mental strain of counting down the days since the Shadow Rain - it all weighed heavily on her.
