Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Into the Dark Forest.

The wind blew softly through the branches, carrying with it a sense of unease. Dry leaves crunched under Su Bai's boots as he ventured deeper into the Dark Forest. The air grew denser and colder as he advanced, and sunlight barely penetrated the treetops, casting shadows that stretched like claws across the ground.

Su Bai moved cautiously, his senses alert to any danger. This wasn't the time to waste energy on lesser monsters like goblins or wild wolves. His mission was clear, and the faster he moved, the closer he got to his goal. Yet danger was constant, and though he tried to avoid unnecessary confrontations, he couldn't let his guard down.

The whispers of the forest were almost deafening in their silence. A crow cawed from a distance, sending a shiver down Su Bai's spine. Every step brought him closer to the heart of the darkness, where far more dangerous creatures lurked. He knew that sooner or later he would face something far more formidable than the simple goblins.

After walking for a while, the atmosphere subtly changed. The air became heavier, and a thin mist began to surround him. It was then that he heard it for the first time: a sharp meow, a sound that cut through the silence like a sharp blade. Su Bai froze, his eyes scanning the forest for the source of the sound.

He didn't have to wait long. From the shadows emerged a sleek, agile figure. The Dark Cat Demon, a creature as black as the very darkness of the forest, moved slowly. Its eyes, red and glowing like embers, locked onto Su Bai with a mixture of curiosity and hunger. It was the size of a large dog, but its movements were elegant, almost like a predator stalking its prey.

The demon let out another meow, this time lower and more guttural, as it bared its sharp fangs. Saliva dripped from its jaw, and its long, curved claws shimmered with a faint reddish glow.

Su Bai felt a slight chill, but he remained calm. As terrifying as the Dark Cat Demon looked, he knew he could handle it if he kept a cool head. He immediately activated his Exploration skill to gather more information about his enemy.

[Dark Cat Demon]

Level: 6HP: 5000Physical Attack: 78Skill: Tearing Claw (Claw Attack + 30% damage, causes 20 bleeding damage per second for 5 seconds)Details: Agile and flexible, especially dangerous for its ability to inflict bleeding with its claws.

"A strong enemy," thought Su Bai as he observed the data displayed on his interface. The Dark Cat Demon was more dangerous than the goblins he had faced before. Its speed and special skill, Tearing Claw, made it a formidable foe.

He knew he couldn't afford to be hit by those claws. But instead of attacking right away, he decided to assess the situation. He had always learned that patience and strategy could overcome even the strongest enemies.

Su Bai crouched behind a nearby tree and picked up a small stone from the ground. With a precise throw, he launched it toward a nearby bush, making the Dark Cat Demon turn its head in that direction. The demon reacted immediately to the noise, cautiously approaching the bush with its soft yet lethal paws.

"Good, it's fast, but not invincible," Su Bai thought. He needed to measure its speed and reaction before committing to close combat.

He picked up a second stone and threw it, this time closer to the creature. The Dark Cat Demon dodged the projectile with impressive agility, moving so gracefully that its paw movements were barely visible.

"This is going to be tricky," Su Bai muttered to himself. He knew that agile monsters were much harder to fight. But he couldn't afford to waste more time, so he decided to strike. With his Celestial Cloudsword in hand, he sprang from his hiding spot and rushed toward the beast.

The Dark Cat Demon saw him coming and let out a sharp roar, its eyes burning with fury. Su Bai swung his sword quickly, aiming for the creature's neck. The demon tried to dodge, but it wasn't fast enough.

The strike landed, dealing significant damage. The creature recoiled but wasn't ready to give up. The Dark Cat Demon's claws began to glow intensely as it activated its special skill, Tearing Claw. Su Bai prepared for the counterattack.

The demon pounced at him, its sharp claws aiming for his throat. The speed of the attack was almost inhuman, and Su Bai barely had time to react. Instinctively, he raised his sword to block the strike.

Clang!

The metallic sound echoed through the clearing. The force of the blow pushed Su Bai back, but to his surprise, he took minimal damage.

"Block? I can block attacks?" Su Bai thought in amazement. So far, blocking was something he had only seen in other games, where it was a specific skill. But here, in this virtual reality world, it seemed like a natural mechanic.

The Dark Cat Demon didn't waste time. It attacked again with ferocity, but this time, Su Bai was ready. He raised his sword and blocked the next attack with precision.

The damage was now insignificant. He had found a way to neutralize the threat of the demon's claws. With a swift movement, Su Bai countered, slashing directly at the creature's side.

The demon let out a howl of pain, its health bar rapidly depleting. Seizing the opportunity, Su Bai launched another attack, this time aiming for the demon's heart.

A flash caught his attention. Kneeling down, he gathered the loot left by the monster: a piece of equipment, some copper coins, and a sleek black pelt. His eyes fixated on the unfamiliar object.

"What is this?" he murmured, examining the piece of equipment with curiosity.
