Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Dark Demon Queen

Su Bai barely had time to react when the Dark Demon Queen emerged from the shadows of the forest. Her eyes gleamed with ancient hatred, and the air around her distorted as if the very darkness bent to her will. Her body, slender yet powerful, moved with lethal grace. Her black claws curved menacingly, ready to tear into him.

Details: The Dark Demon Queen is agile, brutal, and lethal. As the leader of the Dark Cat Demons, her speed and precision in combat are unmatched. She is especially dangerous when surrounded by her pack, and her combination of physical attacks and battlefield control abilities makes her a formidable foe.

Su Bai swallowed hard as he saw the data flash across his interface. A level 8 enemy. He knew this fight wouldn't be easy, and with his current level of 6, facing her head-on would be a fatal mistake.

Su Bai knew that taking on an enemy of this caliber was almost impossible. With her high HP and battlefield-altering abilities, he would have to be extremely strategic if he wanted to survive, let alone escape.

The battle began before Su Bai had fully processed the threat. The Dark Demon Queen moved with an agility far beyond what any player at his level could expect to face. Su Bai had barely managed to see her stats thanks to his Exploration skill when he was already hit by her first attack—those sharp claws slashing through the air.

In a quick movement, she struck with her Dark Claw ability. Though Su Bai raised his Celestial CloudSword to block, the Queen's power was overwhelming.

-85 HP flashed on his screen, but the worst part came right after: a sudden fear gripped him, weakening his defenses.

Defense reduced by 15% for 10 seconds.

"She's too strong…" Su Bai thought as he retreated, sweating under the pressure of her relentless attacks.

"I need to use the Celestial CloudSword... I can't rely on speed alone." He gripped the sword tightly and activated his Endless Icy Cloud ability. The humid forest air began to gather around him, and with each swing of his sword, a fine icy mist enveloped the Dark Demon Queen, slowing her down.

Endless Icy Cloud activated: Attack and movement speed reduced by 20%.

The Demon Queen hesitated for a moment, confused by the mist, but she quickly adapted. Her movements were still incredibly fast for Su Bai.

With a deafening roar, she activated Bloodlust Roar, increasing her attack speed by 25% and her movement speed by 15%. Her movements became even faster, easily countering the speed reduction Su Bai had imposed.

Meanwhile, Su Bai felt pressure in his chest, as if every fiber of his being warned him that he was about to be crushed. The roar had also stunned him for two seconds.

Stunned for 2 seconds.

Time seemed to stretch as the Queen lunged at him, her claws ready to tear into him again. Fortunately, Su Bai managed to recover just in time, but not without taking another hit in the process.

-102 HP.

Bleeding and at a disadvantage, Su Bai knew he couldn't keep fighting defensively. He activated Mystical Frozen Cloud to boost his attack power, enveloping his sword in a glowing mist. The next strike he delivered was aimed directly at the Queen's side.

-520 (Increased Damage).

The Dark Demon Queen shrieked in fury, but far from surrendering, she raised her hands and activated Summon Dark Cats. Two Dark Cat Demons materialized beside her, ready to flank Su Bai.

[Dark Cat Demon - Level 6]

HP: 5000Physical Attack: 78

Now facing three enemies, Su Bai knew he couldn't defeat them all through conventional means. He focused on staying mobile, using his Endless Icy Cloud to slow the demons while dodging attacks from both the Queen and the dark cats.

Then, the Dark Demon Queen unleashed her Shadow Mist ability. A dark fog enveloped the area, making the world around Su Bai vanish into impenetrable shadows. He squinted, trying to catch any movement, but the darkness was absolute.

His breathing quickened—it was as if he were fighting blind. He knew that every second inside the mist made him more vulnerable, and the feeling of helplessness crept over him. He had no idea where the Dark Demon Queen was or when she would strike.

Suddenly, she reappeared from nowhere, invisible for 5 seconds thanks to Shadow Mist, and delivered a devastating slash with her dark claws.

-110 HP.

The blow sent him sprawling to the ground, his life bar barely hanging on. With pain shooting through his body, Su Bai got back on his feet and drank an Uncommon Healing Potion, restoring +200 HP, feeling the immediate relief wash over him. But when he checked his inventory, he saw he only had two potions left. Panic set in—he knew that if he ran out, he'd have no way to heal. His life hung by a thread, and every decision now was crucial.

Su Bai activated both of the Celestial CloudSword's abilities simultaneously. Mystical Frozen Cloud and Endless Icy Cloud merged into a storm of ice and power. His sword glowed with a blinding intensity, and the air around him froze instantly.

Every swing of his sword now released waves of icy energy that not only slowed his enemies but also sapped the very essence of the Dark Demon Queen. Despite his exhaustion, Su Bai felt the sword's power surging through him, though at the cost of his remaining energy.

-1500 · Critical Freeze

The freezing strike hit with devastating force, draining a large portion of the Dark Demon Queen's life bar. She staggered back, her movements slower and clumsier as she tried to break free from the layer of ice encasing her. Her HP dropped to 6395, but it still wasn't enough. The Dark Cat Demons attacked simultaneously, and while Su Bai managed to dodge one, the other hit him squarely.

-78 HP.

Every second counted. Despite being at a disadvantage, Su Bai stood his ground. His life was hanging by a thread, but he knew that if he could hold out just a little longer, he might find an opening to escape.

The Dark Demon Queen shrieked as she broke free from the ice, staggering backward as her life bar dangerously dwindled. But before Su Bai could launch another attack, his strength began to wane. The lesser demons attacked from all sides, leaving him no way out.

-80 HP.

-60 HP.

His vision started to darken. He was on the brink of death. Just when he thought it was all over, the sword gleamed with a celestial light, enveloping him in a freezing aura.

"The sword... is it protecting me?" he thought, unable to believe what he was seeing.

The Dark Demon Queen, now wounded and bewildered by the sword's ethereal power, roared in pain and terror as the sword's divine glow pierced through her very essence. The once-dominant queen, who had ruled the shadows for centuries, felt the crushing weight of divine power bearing down on her.

Her movements became erratic, and her eyes gleamed with palpable fear. It was as if echoes of ancient battles between light and darkness resonated deep within her lineage. With a final roar of pain and terror, the Queen retreated, terrified of the power the sword might unleash upon her.

Su Bai, exhausted and gravely wounded, collapsed to one knee, gasping for air. Every muscle in his body was pushed to its limit. The exhaustion didn't just drain him physically—his mind struggled to stay focused under the immense pressure. One more mistake could cost him his life.

Though he hadn't fully defeated the Dark Demon Queen, Su Bai had gained something far more valuable: a newfound respect for the Celestial CloudSword's power and for his own abilities. He knew the true test wasn't over, and that facing enemies of this caliber would require more than just strength. It would take strategy, endurance, and a deeper understanding of the power he now wielded.
