Chapter 14 - Leak

…Adriana's POV….

My wrist was literally on fire and I wanted to scream. I wanted to cut the hands off, maybe then, I would find peace.

To avoid Eric noticing what was going on, I ran out of the house and to the nearest bench.

I stared at the scar on my wrist, it was bright red with a glow.

I hated it. It's the same scar that the Willighams gave me 17 years ago before slicing me to death.

Once in a while, it would turn red and burn, reminding me of the torture my parents and I went through.

I was just seven but It'll burn and remind me of what I needed to do.

It'll remind me of the fact that I needed to take revenge.

I've had peace only when I started planning out my revenge. The pain stopped visiting and for a while, I had forgotten all about it.

But today, after losing a really big battle, the pain visited again.

All thanks to Daven Willingham. My biggest threat.

As if hearing his name, Daven rushed towards me, I was enveloped by the pain that I couldn't spare him a glance.

"Stop the burning!" I cried out.

"What's wrong? let me see?" Daven said, trying to see my wrist. But I was using all the might I had to hide it.

This scar is a marking that I was once dead and this is my second chance at life.

The way it lights up is abnormal and I don't want them thinking I am a witch like their grandmother had accused.

"Let me help you!" He said, forcing his hands on me.

"I don't need your help!" I said in between tears.

The pain was getting unbearable.

Daven successfully pried my hands apart.

To my surprise and, at the same time, relief, the scar did not have the red glow anymore. It looked normal again, just a dark blade cut scar.

"The scar was hurting?" he asked, his eyes boring into it.

I didn't give him a reply, all I could do was stare at the blank space in front of me.

"Who hurt you? How did you get such a deep scar?" He asked, his eyes glued to me for a reply. But again, I had nothing to say to him.

I wanted to scream at him, to tell him his father and uncle did this to me. To tell him I lost everything because of them. My beautiful, loving parents are gone!

But what difference would it make? He is the same man as his father.

He sabotaged my plan and covered for their illegal business.

If he lets out just one word about what happened, then I'll be sent back to the land of the dead, without hesitation.

"Why didn't you tell them about what happened earlier today?" I asked. I wanted to go straight to the point since he knows everything now.

"I didn't feel like it." he said. "Unless, you want me to tell them?" He raised a brow.

I huffed, "I don't care what you do Daven."

"Ohhh, someone's wearing her big girl pants." He laughed.

I felt like strangling him right then.

I hated how he made me look like a stupid person upstairs. I cried and begged. I looked so weak in front of Eric and Taylor, then, he said some shit about a panic attack.

Not anymore. I wouldn't let him make me look like a fool anymore.

And I wouldn't be aborting my mission. If he does decide to tell on me, I'll run away and hide, and I'll still try to destroy them from the shadows. Nothing would make me give up.

Daven sat beside me on the bench, then he held my hands in his.

"You can run. It's not too late." He said.

"I'd rather die than run! I'm not a coward!" I barked.

He leaned in, really close. His strong scent filled the air, taking over my senses. That uneasy feeling was back in the pit of my stomach. And I wondered if he had control over himself tonight.

The moment was disrupted as Eric stormed towards us. His footsteps echoing through the air.

I flinched at the sight of him.

"What's going on here?" He thundered, his eyes blazing with accusations.

"It's nothing." I said, trying to get a grip of my emotions.

"Did you have another panic attack?" He asked.

I didn't say anything.

Daven was not helping matters. He didn't even spare Eric a glance.

"And getting cozy with Daven would solve it?" At this point, I felt Eric was being ridiculous.

"If you become a more dutiful husband, maybe you would notice when your wife needs you, and I wouldn't have to be in the picture." Daven said, then walked back into the house.

"Come on, let's go." Eric said and I followed quietly.

I didn't want to go against him at this moment because he is the only key I have to staying in this house.

The next morning, I didn't wait for Eric or any of the family members to wake up.

I rushed to the office to do what i do best.

Designing new pieces was the only way I could get my mind off all that what happening.

But still, my mind kept wandering around all the mess that I'm in.

Thanks to Daven, I'm farther away from my goal than I've ever been.

"Ma'am," My secretary came in, disrupting my thoughts.

"Someone wants to meet you." she said.

Before I could ask who it was, the door was pushed open, and Taylor walked in.

"Hello Adriana," He said in a voice that sent chills down my spine.

"What do you want Taylor?" I asked, rising to my feet.

"I didn't know I was not welcome." As he spoke, he made his way to the sofa and sat comfortably.

"Can you excuse us?" he said to my secretary.

She looked at me, and I gave her an approving nod.

When she was out of the way,

Taylor cleared his throat, making sure he had all my attention.

"How may I help you?" I asked. Everything about his presence was disturbing.

"Oh, I'll go straight to the point Adriana." He said moving close to me.

With a his grey eyes staring directly into my soul, he said,

"I know you're trying to ruin the Willignhams."
