Chapter 10 - 10: Purpose of Leng Ao’s Ex

Ning Shu was thoroughly tired of the scene unfolding before her. She didn't find Leng Ao's tsundere personality cute; instead, she thought he was far too self-important. His condescending attitude and the way he treated others as if he were bestowing alms made her want to roll her eyes.

There was no point in concerning herself with someone so incapable of distinguishing right from wrong.

It was a school campus setting, yet the main female lead was overpowered, leaving the aloof prince, whom everyone revered, relegated to a supporting role, while the other two princes faded into mere side characters.

Ning Shu suspected that Leng Ao existed solely to highlight the male lead's mature charm.

The moment she decided to ignore Leng Ao, the body she inhabited began to resist her thoughts and even rejected her presence.

Alarmed, Ning Shu quickly repeated in her mind: I'm here to save Prince Leng, save Prince Leng, save Prince Leng…

After some time, the remnant emotions of the body calmed down.

Ning Shu looked up at the sky, feeling speechless. It was a stroke of bad luck that she had been transported to this world. Her tasks felt nearly impossible to complete, and now the lingering emotions in this body were causing constant disturbances.

She felt an urge to face the wind and shed tears. How could she increase her luck points? How could she boost her moral integrity?

As Leng Ao passed by, he cast a glance at her and then stopped. Towering over her, he looked down at her slightly contorted face.

Ning Shu, confused, blinked up at him.

Leng Ao studied her eyes. They were remarkably clear—so clear that his silhouette was reflected in them, almost as if one could get lost in their calmness.

Realizing his thoughts had strayed, Leng Ao quickly dismissed them. She was just a love-struck fool, constantly pestering him and insisting that he was being deceived by Ling Xue. How could someone as insignificant as her slander Ling Xue?

"Don't appear in front of me again. I won't ever like you, so you should just give up. If you speak ill of Ling Xue again, I'll make you regret it," he said, his tone icy. Ning Shu had no doubt he meant every word.

This was the part of the task that left Ning Shu feeling most despondent. The original host had deep feelings for Leng Ao and was determined to make him realize the truth. But from Ning Shu's perspective, she wished he would stop creating trouble.

Ning Shu looked at Leng Ao's arrogant face—no, she was really looking at his chin. He was just too tall. Tilting her head back, she endured the sharp pain in her heart.

Seeing her face lose color and turn pale, Leng Ao felt no sympathy. In fact, he took pleasure in having helped Ling Xue vent her frustrations.

After delivering those harsh words, he turned and walked away, ignoring the damage he had inflicted on her.

The mocking gazes of those around her—filled with sneers and laughter—felt like daggers stabbing into Ning Shu.

What an egotistical person. He lived entirely in his own world. Ning Shu couldn't understand why the original host had such a strong affection for someone like Leng Ao.

Was it his looks or his family background? From Ning Shu's viewpoint, Leng Ao was merely someone who did as he pleased, relying on the fact that everyone adored him. What was endearing about a person like that?
