Chereads / A NIGHT WITH THE BILLIONAIRE / Chapter 8 - FAMILY DYNAMICS

Chapter 8 - FAMILY DYNAMICS

The Browns' family is one of the wealthiest in Australia. Their wealth spans beyond the country, they have numerous investments in other countries too.

The most respected in the whole of Australia. Most products Australia use is made by the Browns;from food, cement, games, drinks, just mention it.

If you are a Brown, you are definitely influential. Everyone sees them as a perfect family, however, the rivalry in the Brown's family is nothing to write home about.

The fact that the youngest child, Adrian Brown, is richer than any of them sparks a lot of sentiments within the family.

There's Elder Jerry, Adrian's grandfather and best ally of Adrian.

The love and affection they have for one another is so strong.

Then there's Adrian's father, Luke.

Luke has never been in good terns with Adrian, reasons only they understand.

Adrian sighed as he drove into the mansion. Looking so regal as it's a marvel of modern architecture.

"Welcome home young master" The servants bowed as he entered.

It's being quite long since he steeped foot into the mansion. About two years now.

"Adrian" he heard someone shout his name and he didn't need a soothsayer to tell him that it was his elder sister, Deja.

She came outside and pulled him into a warm hug. "You are home, you are finally home" she squealed.

"I'm not here to stay." he rolled his eyes.

"All I care about is that you are here, and I'm so happy about that." she pulled away from the hug.

She and Sasha are the only one allowed to touch him.

"Let's go in. Smile, even If it's just little" she said to Adrian whose expression is blank.

"There's nothing to smile about" he said and she sighed as they entered.

"My grandson is here" Elder Jerry smiled when he saw Adrian.

Adrian went to meet him and bowed.

"How have you been grandfather"

"I have been well. I'm so happy to see you. You didn't bother checking up on this old man"

"I'm sorry grandad, I have been really busy" he said.

"Your father is in his study waiting for you, when you are done, see me in my room for some chit-chat" he said as he patted him and Adrian nodded.

"Look who it is" Ciara, Adrian's step-sister said as she approached him.

He ignored her and walked upstairs.

His father married two wives, his mother, Fiona and the first wife, Elsa.

However, his mother died in a gruesome way when he was only five years old.

Elsa gave birth to three children, Miles, Ciara, and Steph. Miles is currently abroad.

While Fiona gave birth to two, Deja and Adrian.

Adrian knocked on the door of the study room.

"Come in" he heard and he entered.

He saw the familiar figure by the shelf, reading a newspaper.

"It took you two years to visit your father" Jerry said, facing him.

"You ain't no father of mine" Adrian said, his voice seething with venom.

Jerry laughed at his words.

"You can do a DNA test or better still, ask Fiona, but unfortunately…"

"Don't talk about my mother! You are not worthy of mentioning her name!" Adrian spat angrily.

"Easy boy." Luke said and that only riled Adrian up the more.

"Why did you send for me" he said trying to calm himself down?

"Good. There's this girl I arranged for you, you are getting married to her" Luke said and Adrian's eyes widened.

"What?" he asked bewildered.

"You heard me right. You are getting married to her. She's the daughter of Mr. Robinson."

"I don't care about knowing who she is. I never told you I needed a wife"

"Well, I know you need one ad I found the right one for you. I'll give you her number, I already prepared a cool date spot.

Get acquainted with her and give me feedback"

"You must be kidding me. Why do you think you can just plan out things the way you want and make it mandatory for everyone to follow? I'm sick of your rules" Adrian said, angrily.

"You can vex all you want. My words are rules and must be followed strictly"

"I'm not getting married to her and that's final" Adrian said.

"I'm twenty seven for crying out loud. I can make my decisions myself; Marriage or not." he said, frustrated.

"I have stated what I want. And you know I can collect your company from you and withdraw your rights to any of my asset if you don't obey me"

"I don't care about your assets. Leave my company alone."

"We'll see" he smirked and Adrian brushed his hair backwards and heaved a sigh.

"Fine, I'll bring a girl home, but I don't want to get married to the girl you arranged for me."

"No problem. I'll give you just three months. Bring a girl home, or you get married to who I choose." He said sternly and Adrian sighed, before walking out.

He was on his way to the room, he had gotten to the door when he heard some sounds coming from his room.

He paused, wondering who was inside.

The sounds, it sounded more like moans.

With a dark expression, he opened his door and his eyes widened in surprise and irritation.

He saw Steph on his bed with a naked girl who scrambled out immediately she saw him, bowing her head as she left.

"What the f*ck man, you scared her away" Steph complained, hastily getting dressed.

Adrian's disgust grew "Are you out of your mind? How dare you bring a girl to my room? On my bed?"

"Chill bro, we were already into it and somehow, we ended up in your room. Didn't know you'll come home."

Adrian's cold gaze got Steph flinching.

"Dude, relax. I'll leave now. You can call the maids to take care of the room. Stop staring at me coldly, I'm still your elder brother" He said as he walked out and Adrian folded his fist in anger.

He went out of the room immediately.

"Where are you going?" Deja said, coming out of her room.

"I'm going to see granddad, then home"

"I thought you were going to sleep here"

"I didn't intend to sleep over, I wanted to stay for a few hours, but I am not doing that anymore. See you later, sis"

Deja stood, looking at his retreating figure and she sighed.

Though she's older, Adrian tends to behave more matured.

She knows he is hiding some things from her and even after coaxing him to tell her, he kept his mouth sealed.

"I wonder what dad talked to him about." she muttered and left for the living room.

"I'm here grandad" Adrian said as he entered his grandfather room.

"My Champ is here." He chuckled and Adrian smiled, something he hardly does.

"How's work" he asked.

"Everything has been going smoothly recently. Though it's a bit stressful, but I have been doing well" Adrian said.

"That's my boy" Elder Jerry smiled, patting his back.

"Your birthday is coming up" He added and Adrian looked at him.

His Grandfather was the only one in the family who usually remembers.

"I don't have a birthday" he muttered.

He hated his birthday so much because that was the same day his mum died.

It's usually a sad day for him, and he blames himself every single time.

"It's not fault of yours, son" Elder Jerry said.

"I haven't seen that witch since I came here" Adrian said, changing the topic.

Elder Jerry laughed at Adrian's statement.

"When will you stop calling your stepmother a witch?

I don't know what happened between both of you, but why don't you forgive her?

She's still your family."

"She's not. You and Deja are the only family I have left." Adrian said, frowning and Elder Jerry sighed.

"What did Luke discuss with you?" he asked Adrian.

"Nothing much grandfather." Adrian said.

He knew Elder Jerry would definitely make a fuss if he tells him that Luke wants him to get married, and he doesn't want to stress him.

He's getting old, and he needs all the rest he can get.

"I'll find out" Elder Jerry muttered, knowing Adrian didn't want to tell him on purpose.

Adrian chuckled.

"See you later Pops" he said.

"Make sure your later isn't more than a week. I can't wait for another two years."

"Aye, Aye Captain" Adrian said, before leaving and Elder Jerry smiled.

*

Violet woke up from her slumber, feeling great and well relaxed.

She wore a short skirt and a sleeveless top, with a leather jacket over it.

The weather looked good for a stroll.

She passed in front of the restaurant she applied for earlier and paused when she saw the number of customers in the shop, with only Mrs. Lilian handling it.

Mrs. Lilian was walking with a tray about to take a customer's order when someone collected it from her.

"I'll do that" Violet said, smiling as she collected the tray and went to the customer.

Mrs. Lilian was surprised but was glad to have a helping hand.

"I would like to have pizza with some pepperoni toppings."

"As for me, I would love an hamburger and a milkshake."

"Get me a plate of spicy noodles, salad, and beer"

Violet kept taking different orders, attending to them as swift as she can.

*

"Finally done" Mrs. Lilian said when the last customer left.

"Thanks Violet. You helped a lot today."she appreciated.

"It was nothing ma" she said humbly.

"Such a darling. The waiter I employed had to leave very early due to some unforeseen circumstances and the evening rush was just so overwhelming today.

You are like an angel" Mrs. Lilian praised as Violet smiled.

"I have a last favour to ask though"

"Any thing for you, Mrs. Lilian" she said.

"So sorry for stressing you. On your way home, can you please help me deliver this?" she asked, handling a food pack to Violet.

Violet looked at the address, it was the same route to her home.

She collected the food pack and promised to deliver it.

"Give me your account number. Let me appreciate you for today's work."

"You don't have to bother yourself ma. I'll be on my way. Goodnight ma." Violet said and left.

*

Violet arrived in front of the biggest mansion she has ever seen, and she opened her mouth in awe.

The sheer scale of the island took her breath away

"Wow" she said, as she looked around her.

She rang the doorbell with the food pack in her hands, waiting for the owner to come out.

"Hold on" a low, familiar voice said from within.

Violet's heart skipped a bit as she tried to place the voice

And then, the door swung open, revealing a tall, handsome figure with a blank expression

"Mr Adrian?" she asked, her voice laced with surprise.

Adrian's gaze met hers, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in her presence.
