Here Monica was, not even ten minutes ago plotting to kill Gordon, but now she was hugging him and squealing with delight as they watched Portensa evolve. Gordon knew that he had to kill her. She had already revealed her complete lack of moral virtue. When he had been weak, she had systematically plotted against him. He was sure that he still didn't know all the ways that she had turned not only Joce, and now Portensa to her views, but potentially also the Skill Tomes, [All Purpose Portable Manufacturing Plant]s, and since there had already been one evolution of which he was not aware maybe even the elementals, saplings, proto animals, all of Portensa's symbiotes.
Yet Monica herself was completely opening herself up for retaliation. What did she think? Was this just another trap? Was she all innocently clinging to him like this just to survive, for some kind of human connection?
