Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 Dashcam Video

When Kelsie turned around, she found the triplets standing behind her with their face lowered to the floor apologetically.

"It was my fault, mommy. I brought him here." Jett spoke up solemnly, inevitably taking all the blame.

Keira fidgeted with her blouse for a moment before she chimed in, "But mommy, he doesn't seem like a bad man. He played with Zade and I for over ten minutes and even let him order medicinal herbs on his phone."

Kelsie's eyes instantly whipped towards Zade who maintained. The little boy raised his head, his eyes searching everywhere without settling on her face whilst maintaining his innocent expression.

"He volunteered, mommy. And he was happy to do it. So how could I deprive him of the opportunity to be happy. Didn't you teach us to be selfless and look out for the interest of others?"

His words instantly rendered Kelsie speechless.

There was nothing wrong with what he said at all, but at the same time, there was everything wrong with it.

She sighed softly and smiled down at them.

"That uncle may be a good person, but people can be scary. Don't open the door for anyone else."

They words were yet out of her mouth before they needed vigorously.

Kelsie glanced at the time on her watch and stretched tiredly.

"It's getting late. Let's go to bed."

"Okay, mommy!" Keira was the first to jump happily and follow after her.

Zade packed up his work for the day and went after them while Jesse hurriedly grabbed his laptop before following suit.

The family of four changed into their sleeping clothes before retiring to bed.

Kelsie waited for them to snuggle close to her like they always did before she rubbed their heads gently and slowly fell asleep.

When they heard her soft snoring, Keira raised her head to look at her brothers.

"So what do you two think? Uncle Daniel said his brother is the richest man in the country. Doesn't that sound like the right fit for mommy?"

"No one can ever be the right fit for mommy!" Jesse vehemently refused.

Zade supported his head with his palm and nodded thoughtfully like some grown-up.

"I think he's manageable. I bought a lot of expensive medicinal herbs on that uncle's phone and they all went throug"

"Imagine so many other things I could get if mommy gets together with his wealthy brother."

Keira held her face in her palm and beamed dreamily.

"He also bought me a lot of ice cream and promised to buy me whatever I want. His brother could buy me entire stalls of ice cream if he gets together with mommy. So how do we make them get together?"

Jesse glanced towards them irritatedly, but the children ignored him and huddled their heads together to form a plan.

Upstairs, Daniel Adler tossed uncomfortably on his bed before he left out of his room to get water from the kitchen.

The second he stepped into the parlor was the moment the door opened and Jett walked in.

Unlike earlier today when Daniel would turn his face to the side or run away in fear that he'd be punished for leaving Zeen, he confidently strutted towards Jett and patted him gently on the shoulder.

"You're really impressive, brother. Not just one, but three of them? You even managed to make one that looks exactly like you."

"How did you do it? Did you use a specific style or did you go a specific hour? Could it be you pulled an all nighter?"

"Or…hey, where are you going? I'm being serious here! I might need your technique in the future to have three as well!"

However, Jett just kept walking until he was inside his room.

Daniel attempted to follow after him, but the door almost slammed into his face had he not stepped back at the nick of time.

He glanced at Jett's door and began mourning underneath his breath.

"Right. He won't admit he has sister-in-law and the triplets upstairs. Had I not found out, how long did he intend to keep such a secret from me?"

"I bug him all the time but he has never for once slipped about them. How scary and impressive."

Then he turned and walked back to his room, temporarily forgetting he had gone out to get water in the first place.

In the master bedroom.

Jett took off his suit jacket and draped it around the arm of the chair at his desk.

As he loosened his tie, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket and reached for it with his free hand.

It was a text message from Eric Lance which read, "Sir, this is the clearest dashcam video I could find."

He scrolled up and played the video that was sent before the text.

It so happened that when Kelsie had bolted out of the cab and into the cafe, a suspicious looking man had done the same.

Jett watched the video twice, solely focusing on the man.

But the man had his face covered with the hood of his sweater that it was impossible to see what he looked like underneath.

He exited the messaging app and placed a call to Lance which was answered on the first ring.

"Did you talk the cab driver who purchased the computers?"

Lance Eric's voice came up almost immediately.

"Yes. He said he got it for a student and her friends who were running out of time to submit their thesis."

"I looked into him just to be sure and he's really just a cab driver with a daughter who's in college."

"It's just a coincidence that one of the five computers he bought was the one the hacker used to log you off."

"Oh," Jett hummed in response and stared into the distance.

Once again, this little runt who had been stealing from him for the past four years slipped right through his fingers.

Even though he had a footage of this hacker, with his face completely hidden under the hood, he was back to square one.

After thinking for a moment, he spoke into the phone again.

"Have you been able to identify who this hacker is?"

Eric was silent for two seconds before his voice came up again hesitantly.

"Forgive me, sir, but I haven't been able to. Even with the bounty for anyone who would be able to provide his code name, no hacker has taken us up on the offer. Whoever he is, he must be a big shot they are all so scared of offending."

Jett's eyes darkened as he spat out, "Is that so? Then get me a cybersecurity company that isn't afraid to go after anyone. Offer them whatever amount that'll get the job done."

That night, it spread like wildfire that Jett Adler was looking for a good cybersecurity company to hire.

He was offering to pay whatever amount the selected company asked for.

The following morning, Jerry Sutton who was itching to sell off Lumen Group just a few hours ago turned to Laura in anticipation.

"Laura, didn't you come 7th place for the hacking contest that was held last year in our country?"

Laura nodded.

"I also came 3rd place in our city."

Jerry flashed her a bright smile and reached out to gently pat her on the head.

"That is good. If we are able to get this job, our Sutton family will be the talk of the town."
