Seraphina POV
"Why didn't you tell me that you are engaged to Janet?" I asked Ronan about it during lunchtime at the cafeteria.
The question had been bugging me since Janet revealed it, and I had only found the courage to ask Ronan about it now.
"Where did you hear that from." His eyes had darkened, and his brows were furrowed with rage,
Maybe this wasn't such a great idea. Still, I deserved to know, Especially if I have been getting comfortable with him…
"Janet told me. Is it true?"
"And what does it matter to you?" He sounded rude and cold, not the matter he often conversed with me.
That hurt.
"Uhm.. I… I guess it isn't my concern, but I would love to know, so I'm not caught unaware by informations like this."
"She's my fiancé and that information was supposed to be a secret. But I'm the bigger fool to think Janet is capable of indiscretions."
Oh. Why did I feel a zap of a hole in my chest? I mean, we are not dating or in love or even mates.
We just hung out, and yet.
"That's cool… Uhm.. I have to get going now I'm having fighting classes now, so bye." I stood up and left immediately before he could stop me.
That was such a low move, but staying there and acting like my heart wasn't hurting by Ronan being engaged to Janet was lower,
I was stupid enough to think that the few times we spent together had caused us to form some sort of bond; Ronan was probably just bored and decided to be around me since I'm the cool new thing,
It didn't mean he stayed cause he thought about me like I did during late nights or that he sneaked peeks at me like I did,
I got to the fighting class quite early; it was usually held at the academic halls and was supposed to be at the forest grounds.
But the dangers that roamed there caused it to be held here,
I took an armor and sword, then I swung it at the dummy like we have been taught,
Though I couldn't help but imagine Janet was the one being slashed by my sword, again low, but I'm way past the lows to care.
The more I swung the sword and the more the dummy bounced back, the higher my rage got soon I was increasing my pace and strength,
My emotions were piqued, and so when the dummy exploded from my sword touch, I knew I was the cause,
The dummy had been shredded, and the sword I held wasn't even a real sword,
This means my powers were at work again. I thought they had gone docile since Diane's last event.
Thankfully, no one saw that, so I wouldn't be made a freak,
I quickly cleaned it up and sat down till the rest of the students returned to the class.
I was still waiting when the door of the hall creaked open, Ciaran popped out of the door,
He looked as shocked as I was to see him; a wave of emotions filled me from just seeing him, anger, sadness, pain, and fear; I swallowed it all up and out on a closed-off face even though I was burning on the insides.
"Hey." He greeted.
"Hey." Mine was colder and more detached; if he was going to be here, I better leave. I stood up to do just that, but he was already in front of me,
"How have you been?"
"And why do you suddenly care? Tired of playing the ignoring card?"
He sighed, "I know I have been a jerk, but trust me that it isn't without reason."
"Yeah, whatever." I moved to walk past him, but he caught my hands,
"Please, just hear me out," he had that stupid doe eyes of his.
"You have a minute."
"A minute but.."
"59..58..57…"
"Ronan threatened me to stop hanging out with you, he had something on me, and if I didn't do what he wanted I would have been doomed."
"What was it?"
"I can't say."
I rolled my eyes.
"But.. please, trust me cupcake."
"How can I trust you when you keep hiding things from me?"
"sometimes some secrets are kept to protect, I will explain everything in due time you just have to trust me."
Is he kidding me?
"I am mad at you for letting Ronan push you like that, and for ending the only sort of friendship and closure I had, all in the name of things I don't understand but I'm even more mad at Ronan, I mean if he can threaten you to leave me alone, the. Why the hell does he act like getting a fiancé is no big deal?"
"You found out?"
"Yeah, in the worst way ever. Your sister…" I took a deep breath. I couldn't lousy mouth his sister in front of him,
"It's okay, I understand, but why are you so affected by it?"
"I'm not!" I said almost too sharply,
"Hmmm."
"I'm not!! "
"Alright, but don't go catching feelings for him, I wouldn't like that, I mean it." His eyes were squared in all seriousness.
I swallowed hard.
"if it's any rendition, he is only engaged to her because he is cursed."
I raised my brows, "what do you mean?"
"Ronan killed his pack and for that reason he was cursed by the oracle to live his life alone, without a mate, family, or even a pack, he would be an alpha, but never to any pack."
Shock filled me as I processed the information,
"He was killed his pack? Why? How?"
"Well There's so many rumors on the situation, but I believe that all of them point to the fact that Ronan is a evil and that is enough reason for you to stay away from him and not fall for him."
"I'm not falling for any body, and don't you think it's a bitch harsh to call him evil? You said life isn't black and white."
"It doesn't apply to him."
I took another deep breath. Was that why I had the vision of him killing people? But during the times I spent with him, he didn't seem like he was a cold-blooded killer.
So, What the hell is happening?
"If he can't have a mate then how come is he getting engaged to your sister?"
"That's cause vampires don't apply to werewolf logic of having a mate, his parents begged mine for both of them to be betrothed so Ronan can still be able to have children and a family."
"Oh. But isn't that like against nature? You know mixing a vampire and werewolf?"
"It is, but we are vampires and rules don't apply to us."
This all seemed complicated. Was that why Ronan looked angry when I brought up the topic? Did it perhaps remind him of his pack members that he killed?
Did he actually massacre a whole pack of wolves?
"I…." The sound of the door opening cut me short, and students flooded into the hall,
Seems it was time for the classes,
"I would talk to you later, when Ronan isn't there." Ciaran says before walking away,
Leaving me filled with information that I do not understand.
I tried focusing on the classes and also tried to compress my powers so I don't end up looking like a freak in front of everyone,
The class went on for hours, and after it ended, I went straight to my room thankfully Ronan wasn't in sight,
I showered and freshened up, and laid on my bed awhile before getting back up to go take a walk,
But immediately I came out of my room, I realized I had appeared in the woods,
I turned to go back, but the door wasn't there anymore; this was strange, really strange,
Was it my powers at work? But why the hell had it attracted me to the woods again?
The place where the teachers also earned us not to ever be at,
I could feel the fear creeping down my spine, and the fact that the day had morphed into night didn't help matters,
Everywhere was dark and also silent, too silent,
I tried moving with my hands, but I kept stumbling,
Then I heard it, loud and clear,
"Seraphina."
Grandmother's voice. Still as silky and soft as ever.
I whipped my head around to find out where precisely the voice came from and if, in fact, it was my grandmother's voice,
But there was nothing in the shadows, nothing.
"Granny? Are you there?" I called out to her, but I only heard silence.
This was stupid, my granny is dead, she's…
I caught the whip of a figure standing by the edge of a tree; I couldn't see clearly who it was cause it was the night.
"Who is it?" I asked, beyond terrified.
No response,
"Granny?"
"Sera my darling, is that you?" That's her voice, she's my grandmother.
And she's standing right there…
Feeling ecstatic and scared, I went closer to the figure,
When I got closer, I saw the figure had a black hoodie on, but more terrifying were the red eyes that shone and reflected the blood on the fangs of the figure,
"Hello sera." The figure greeted me in granny's voice, and the figure then swung a blooded knife in my direction, "Good bye sera."
"Haaaaaa…."
