The two turned to find Serene smiling brightly, and Julius felt puzzled. They didn't know each other, so why was she engaging him now?
"You go to East Laurence, right?" she asked, her voice soft and melodious, a pleasant sound to the ears. Julius could detect a slight accent in her voice but he couldn't pinpoint from where.
"Uh, yes I do," he replied, momentarily taken aback by her beauty up close. An earthy, sweet scent enveloped her, both comforting and intimidating.
"I thought so. You look familiar, like I've seen you somewhere." She paused, feigning thoughtfulness. "Oh! I remember now. I think I saw you chatting with Agares. You two looked so close." Her smile remained, but her words held a pointed edge.
"I wouldn't exactly say we're close," Julius replied, feeling flustered.
