Chapter 64 - Emptiness

After the bloody vengeance we had just unleashed, mixed with pain and cruelty that left the pedophile in a state unrecognizable as human, the three of us—Haein, Yui, and I—sat silently on the cold locker room floor. We formed a small circle, leaning against the walls, too exhausted to say anything, too overwhelmed to even look at each other.

The room was comfortingly quiet, with the rhythmic hum of the ventilation system, which was much needed to get rid of the smell that was building up. 

Time ticked along quietly and we all sat with our minds numb and blank. Words were probably not necessary in the aftermath of the horrorshow. For what seemed like an eternity, none of us spoke.

I didn't care to look again, but little Yui and Haein often cast eyes at the lump of disgusting, ripped, and crushed meat and bones. They were grossed, scared, yet there was a feeling of having brought a temporary closure to the haunting past that had been open for too long.
