I didn't remember her looking like this... after all, the last time I saw her, I think I was the one who blew half her face off.
Before traveling back in time, Noah had spent a grueling decade fighting to save humanity from the impending doom that loomed on the horizon.
He had never backed down from anything in his relentless pursuit, whether it was a monster or a human. He had never faltered, nor had he ever given up.
Soon, his past would become his present.
The system had framed it all as a twisted form of entertainment for the sponsors, supernatural entities who reveled in the slaughter of mortals for their amusement. In no time, Earth would be overrun by monsters, dungeons, and other nightmarish creatures, transforming into what might almost resemble a video game.
Too bad this was reality, not some mindless video game.
Noah thought, acutely aware of the chaos that awaited him.
*Ding-Ding*
As these thoughts whirled in his mind, Noah picked up his phone, distracted by the persistent sound of a notification.
*Ding-Ding*
*Ding-Ding*
*Ding-Ding*
*Ding-Ding*
...
Gradually, every student in the classroom received the same message:

"What the hell is going on?!"
"What kind of sick joke is this??"
"Are you all getting these strange messages too??"
Within the classroom, panic began to spread as students exchanged bewildered glances, oblivious to the fate that awaited them.
If I remember correctly, they should be coming from the window... or maybe it was the door... Whatever, it doesn't matter.
*Crack*
Noah's attention snapped to the window a short distance from his desk.
The glass had shattered, scattering thousands of tiny shards everywhere. Perched on the desk nearest the window, a grotesque creature surveyed the unsuspecting prey surrounding it.
"What the hell! This has to be a prank! Where are you hiding the cameras—"
The young man never got to finish his sentence. In a single swift motion, the creature severed the head of the poor, unaware student.
"Shit! Shit! That thing just killed him!!! Shit!"
"Run!! Run!!"
Panic erupted in the classroom. Most of the students bolted from their seats, racing toward the door in desperate search of safety.
Oh right... now that I think about it, I guess the answer is both.
Noah mused, indifferent to the chaos unraveling around him.
As a girl finally managed to fling the door wide open, a scream caught in her throat. She didn't even put up a fight: like a lamb led to slaughter, she fell to her knees, and it was the end for her, too.
Three more small monsters surged through the crowd, each wielding a crude machete. The acrid scent of blood quickly permeated the air.
I think it's time to get started...
With a feline leap, Noah vaulted over the desk in front of him, weaving through the chaos. Casually, he picked up a pair of scissors that had fallen to the floor amid the pandemonium.
Who will be the first?
The first of the four invaders, spotting a prey rushing toward it, didn't hesitate.
With agile movements, the beast maneuvered through the obstacles, using chairs and tables as makeshift springboards. Only a few meters separated them.
4 meters...
3 meters...
2 meters...
1 meter...
And finally, just a breath away.
The monster's arm swung back, ready to deliver a fatal blow, and then it descended upon Noah.
Or rather, where Noah should have been.
With a deft twist of his torso, Noah narrowly dodged the strike by mere millimeters.
"Now you're mine! AHAHAHAH!!"
Noah roared, almost consumed by an exhilarating frenzy.
His hand moved with blinding speed. Before the monster could react, the tip of the scissors was mere millimeters from its left eye, and then it met its demise.
Bluish blood erupted from the wound, splattering across the floor where the creature's lifeless body lay.
