The words, 'I am on your side,' made Clarissa's heart to throb, and it wasn't painful; it was quite vague and maybe... Longing.
She bit her lip. Was Alice telling the truth? She couldn't trust her. She could never believe her words because of the hatred that was swallowing her heart. But... Why did it seem like she wanted to believe Alice, word for word?
"Then," she let go of her. "Did you not know that guy was going to approach me? Why did you come out here if otherwise?"
"Well," Alice dropped one hand on her waist and brushed her hair back with the other, taking a cool stance. "I wanted to see if you were doing okay after all that. I didn't mean to undermine you but," she shrugged. "You guys asked me to be serious so I let out a quarter of my true strength so it wouldn't look like I was trying to undermine the opponent." She darted her eyes away. "I really didn't have any ulterior motives, really."
