Chapter 5 - Where is everyone

Alexander stood in the restroom, the heat making his skin prickle with sweat. Desperate to cool off, he splashed some cold water over his face and chest. His muscles relaxed as he finally relieved his bladder, the constant pressure easing. But as he left the restroom, something felt horribly wrong.

The air was thick, almost suffocating. The usual buzz of the school was gone. The hallways were empty, bathed in a haunting silence. Alexander frowned, glancing around, his confusion growing. The kings' hall was supposed to be alive with music by now, but there was nothing—just an eerie, dead quiet.

"What the hell?" he muttered under his breath, his steps slowing.

Suddenly, a scream pierced the silence—a shrill, desperate cry.

"Please! Let me go! My mom will pay you any money! If this is a prank, it's not funny!"

Alexander froze, his heart pounding in his chest. His blood turned to ice as the terrified voice echoed through the hall. Without thinking, he ran toward the sound, his mind racing with questions. Who was screaming? And why was the school so... deserted?

He rounded a corner and skidded to a halt. His eyes widened, his breath catching in his throat.

Advancing toward a young girl was something out of his worst nightmares. The creature stood tall, its face twisted into an unnatural, grotesque smile. Its eyes burned a deep, terrifying red, glowing with a sickening light. Long, bony fingers—more like claws—reached toward the girl, curling as if to snatch her up.

Its skin... no, its flesh was peeling, decaying, as if it had been rotting for years. The sight made Alexander's stomach lurch violently. He doubled over and vomited, the acid burning his throat.

"This can't be real," he whispered to himself, wiping his mouth. "This has to be some sick joke."

Shakily, he straightened up, his eyes darting around. "Very funny, Oliver!" he yelled into the silence, his voice shaking. "You can come out now! You don't have to go this far, you asshole!"

But no one answered. The hallway remained disturbingly silent, except for the girl's pitiful sobs.

Alexander's gaze snapped back to the horrific creature just in time to see it leap onto the girl. The poor child screamed—a bloodcurdling sound that made Alexander's blood run cold.

"NO! LET ME GO!" she shrieked.

The creature tore into her flesh with savage force. In a single, horrifying motion, it ripped her eyes out of their sockets, holding them up like some twisted prize before biting into them. Blood gushed from the empty eye sockets, splattering the floor. The sound of crunching bones filled the air as the creature devoured her, piece by piece.

It yanked out her heart, liver, and kidneys, gnawing on the organs like they were nothing more than snacks.

Alexander stumbled backward, his legs trembling with fear and disgust. His mind was screaming at him to run, but his body refused to move.

This isn't real. It can't be real.

But it was.

The blood, the girl's torn-apart body, the creature's sick, satisfied grin—it was all real.

"HELP! HELP!" Alexander finally screamed, his voice hoarse, but it was no use. The school was empty. Deserted. He was alone with the monster.

Panicked, he turned and bolted down the hall. His heart raced as his feet pounded against the floor, the sound of his own breathing echoing in his ears.

I need to get out. I need to get out NOW!

But as he ran, the halls grew darker, more twisted. Bodies—what was left of them—were scattered across the floor, blood staining the walls. Heads rolled by his feet. Limbs twitched, severed from their owners.

Horrific, ear-splitting screeches rang out, sending shivers down Alexander's spine.

"No, no, no, no…" he muttered, his voice trembling.

Then, out of the darkness, the creature appeared again. In its decayed hands, it clutched more body parts—the breasts, the heart, the liver of the girl it had just devoured. It gnawed on them, blood dripping from its lips.

It stared at him, its glowing red eyes locking onto his. Then, it let out a demonic cackle, a sound so horrifying it felt like nails scraping across his brain. The laughter grew louder, more twisted, and Alexander's ears began to bleed.

The creature launched itself at him.

Alexander screamed and ran faster, his lungs burning, his muscles aching. But no matter how fast he ran, the darkness was closing in. And then, from the corner of his eye, he saw something else—something flying.

It soared through the air with unnatural speed. A human-shaped figure, but its face... its face was that of a lizard. Scales covered its skin, glistening like oil under the dim light. Its eyes were slits, glowing yellow, and its tongue flickered in and out like a snake's. Its body was human—muscular, powerful—but distorted, twisted into a monstrous form.

It swooped down, its wings flapping with a sickening sound, and before Alexander could react, cold, sharp hands grabbed him.

"NO! LET GO OF ME!" he screamed, thrashing wildly.

The hands tightened their grip, dragging him back. He kicked and clawed, but it was no use.

One of the creature's fingers dug deep into his neck, sending waves of sharp, burning pain through his body. He screamed as his vision blurred, his strength fading.

"Please..." Alex sobbed. "Please, let me go..."

The creature's grip tightened, dragging him faster, deeper into the darkness.

Alexander fought, his mind spiraling into panic, but the pain was unbearable. His body gave out, and he fell, the cold floor rushing up to meet him.

The last thing he saw before darkness consumed him was the creature's twisted, decaying face, leering down at him. Its jagged teeth dripped with blood, and its eyes glowed with malice as it let out another sickening laugh.

And then, everything went black.

When Alex awoke, the world was cold, silent, and dark. His body ached, the pain throbbing deep in his bones. His mouth tasted like copper—blood. His mind was heavy with terror, his thoughts sluggish.

He was trapped in a nightmare. A nightmare where monsters were real, and escape was impossible.

Somewhere in the darkness, the creatures were waiting for him.

Waiting to tear him apart, piece by piece.

Just like the girl.

The end was coming, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
