Chapter 4 - Attack of the monsters

The kiss was pleasant and wild, it took Bella's breath away. It always felt this good. Damn it, why was he such a good kisser?

Suddenly, Bella stopped and pushed Oliver away slightly, her heart racing but her mind catching up.

"What about your girlfriend?" Bella asked, her voice breathless yet demanding. "Why haven't you broken up with her yet?"

Oliver smirked, a devilish gleam in his eyes. "Oh, you mean Chloe?" he said with a casual wave of his hand. "Chill, love. I'm just looking for the perfect moment to break it to her, to let her face the fact that I don't love her."

Bella couldn't help but smile, her lips curling up as she imagined the moment. "I can't wait, darling," she whispered. "I just can't wait for it to happen."

They leaned in, about to kiss again, when Oliver's phone buzzed loudly, breaking the moment.

"Damn it," Oliver muttered, stepping back slightly to check his phone. His face darkened as he saw the message from his friends, Ben and Samuel.

Dude, have you checked the blog? Samuel had texted.

Oliver's fingers flew over the screen. What is it, Samuel? Spill it.

Ben chimed in next. It's Alexander. That guy you called a nobody? He's everywhere now. Some new guy got close to him and now... he's topping the school chat. You're third, Oliver. THIRD!

Oliver's eyes bulged in disbelief, his grip tightening around his phone. He left the group chat and pulled up the blog, his eyes scanning the page, and sure enough, there it was—Alexander had overtaken him.

Bella watched as Oliver's expression turned stormy, his usual suave demeanor crumbling under the weight of his anger. "Calm down, baby," she urged, placing a hand on his arm. "We're hiding, remember? Don't let them hear you."

But Oliver wasn't listening. He shoved Bella aside and stormed out of the room, fury burning in his eyes. "Alex," he muttered under his breath, "I'll kill you with my bare hands, you bloody ingrate!"

Meanwhile, Ethan rushed into the dorms, breathless and frantic. "Oh my gosh, Alex! The whole blog is on fire! What happened? And who is this new guy?"

Alex stood facing the mirror, his usual glasses missing, his face enhanced and free of blemishes, thanks to Nathan's handiwork. He turned to face Ethan, a calm smile playing on his lips.

"Come on, Ethan," Alex said, his voice light. "Aren't we supposed to be getting ready for the party? Don't just stand there, let's go."

Ethan could only stare. Something was off. Alex looked... different. There was an unfamiliar aura about him, something he couldn't quite put his finger on. Still, he nodded. "Okay, let's get ready," Ethan mumbled, still unsure. "But Alex... please, be careful."

Alex's smile didn't waver. "Of course, I will."

Back in the classroom, Oliver stormed in, his usual commanding aura filling the space. Ben walked beside him, engrossed in his phone, while Samuel trailed behind, looking stylish as ever but clearly concerned.

"Where is my dog?" Oliver's voice boomed, demanding everyone's attention. "Where is Alex?"

The class fell silent, no one daring to speak. Chloe entered at that moment, her eyes narrowing as she noticed the strange new guy sitting near the window.

"Hey!" Chloe called out, drawing more attention to herself. "Aren't you that guy who helped Alex? The one topping the charts now?"

Oliver's eyes gleamed with malice as he set his gaze on the stranger. He began to move closer, and the class, now full of spectators, fell into hushed whispers. Even the doorway was crowded with students eager to see what would happen next.

"I'm talking to you!" Chloe's voice grew louder, her frustration bubbling over. "Are you the guy or not?"

Nathan, the stranger, began to stand, but Chloe, furious at his silence, lunged at him, her hand raised to slap him. Before her hand could connect, Nathan caught her arm and twisted it back, delivering a hard slap across her face.

The room erupted in gasps. Chloe stumbled, clutching her arm in pain, tears streaming down her face.

"How dare you!" Oliver growled, his eyes darkening. "You think you're something just because you're on top of some stupid chart? You're NOTHING!"

Nathan's response was a cold, mocking laugh, and at that moment, Isabella entered the scene, flanked by her best friend, Charlotte, a striking beauty with dark skin and sharp eyes.

"You know what?" Nathan began, his voice rising. "All of this is because I helped Alex. You people are cruel, evil. And trust me, you'll all burn in hell for it."

Oliver's anger reached a breaking point. He swung his fist at Nathan, but missed. Nathan retaliated with a quick, brutal punch, twisting Oliver's lips and sending him crashing to the ground. Ben and Samuel lunged forward to help Oliver, but before they could reach Nathan, a monstrous growl echoed through the classroom.

All eyes turned to the door, where a long, grotesque creature stood, its body slimy and its four red eyes glowing with malice. Its claws scraped against the floor as it screeched, sending chills down the spines of everyone present.

Screams filled the room as the creature lunged forward, tearing into the students with terrifying speed. Blood sprayed across the walls as the monster tore through bodies, its screeches growing louder and more menacing. And then, to the horror of the spectators, the creature began to multiply.

It screeched again, its voice like the sound of darkness itself, and more monsters appeared, each more terrifying than the last.

"You all have been chosen for the game," a voice echoed from the monsters. "Take the players."

Oliver staggered to his feet, but before he could react, one of the creatures snatched him up with its long claws and swallowed him whole. Ben, Samuel, and the rest of the class watched in terror as the creatures devoured them one by one, dragging them into a dark abyss.

Meanwhile, the time for the party had arrived, and Alexander was practically buzzing with excitement. He adjusted his sleek black shirt in the mirror, admiring how well it fit his toned body.

"Come on, Ethan, let's go!" Alexander called, his voice light and cheerful. "I'm feeling the vibes already! Something tells me tonight's going to be special."

Ethan followed behind, still a little shaken but trying to keep up. They arrived at the famous King's Hall, where all the elite social events were held.

"Oh boy," Alex breathed, his eyes wide with excitement. "This is what I've always dreamed of. Look at this place!"

The hall was grand, with dazzling chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, their light reflecting off the polished marble floors. The room was filled with people, the air thick with the scent of expensive perfume and the hum of excitement. In the dimly lit corners, illicit activities were happening behind closed doors.

Ethan smiled, but his smile quickly faded as a sharp pain shot through his arm. He looked down to see a slimy, black dog-like creature clinging to his arm, its fangs sinking into his flesh.

"HAAAA! Get away from me, you monster!" Ethan screamed, shaking his arm frantically. "Alex! Alex!"

He stumbled into the main hall, but something was horribly wrong. The once lively room was now silent, eerily so. And then he saw it—a massive, bloody figure emerging from the shadows. Its long, bony fingers were adorned with human organs, its face a hollow void of darkness.

"No," Ethan whimpered, backing away. "No... what's happening? Alex, where are you? Please, come..."

But before he could escape, the creature's massive mouth opened wide, and Ethan was swallowed into the abyss of darkness, his screams echoing long after he was gone.
