Chapter 49 - The Ambush

The protagonist waited patiently, his eyes fixed on the group of goblins as they prepared to leave the village. He could see that they were all armed, some with crude spears and others with rusty swords. But he wasn't intimidated. He had a plan, and he was confident it would work.

As the goblins set off into the forest, the protagonist followed them at a distance, using the trees and underbrush to conceal himself. He waited until they were far enough away from the village, and then he struck.

The protagonist emerged from the trees, his sword flashing in the morning light. The goblins were caught off guard, and they stumbled backward in surprise. The protagonist took advantage of the momentary confusion, striking down the first goblin with a swift blow.

The other goblins quickly regained their composure, and they charged at the protagonist with a fierce cry. But he was ready for them. With swift and deadly precision, he took down the goblins one by one, using his Maintainer's Eye skill to anticipate their movements and strike at their weaknesses.

In the end, it was a swift and brutal battle. The protagonist emerged victorious, the last goblin falling to the ground with a defeated cry. The protagonist stood panting, his sword still trembling with the force of his blows.

He looked around, taking in the aftermath of the battle. The goblins lay scattered around him, their bodies broken and still. The protagonist felt a pang of guilt, but he pushed it aside. He had done what was necessary to survive, and to rescue Thorne.

With a deep breath, the protagonist continued on his way, following the path that the goblins had taken. He knew that he would have to be careful, that the village would soon realize what had happened and send out a search party. But he was ready for them. He had a plan, and he was determined to see it through.

"You have received 30 MP from defeating the goblins," a voice echoed in the protagonist's mind, a notification from the system.
