"Deal" She finally said. Wicked smile showed on his face.
"See beautiful? Your father threw you just like that" He snapped his fingers. "And I take you just like this" He snapped them again. "It will be fun" Darell rested his head on the backrest and closed his eyes. She wanted to say he was insane but there was a knock on the door.
"Come in" Man said sitting straight. "Noah will do the paperwork with you. I see you at work tomorrow at seven o'clock. Don't be late" He stood up, straightened his suit and went out of her room leaving Sophie with his assistant. She looked at the man questioningly.
"How do you cope with it?"
"A matter of habit" He threw up his arms. "So Miss Sophie" He sat next to her. "Here is your employment contract. You can read it slowly and thoroughly. If you have any questions just ask me" He handed her the documents and the girl started to read them right away. She frowned a few times but didn't say anything.
"Is it for real?" She asks, putting the papers on the table.
"Everything you read is true. It will come into force when you sing it" He nodded.
"The position is the same as I had in the previous company" She frowned distrustfully.
"How else are you supposed to start your vendetta? Another thing will be convincing the people working under you to cooperate. Remember you were the biggest obstacle for us" He warned her.
"It was never easy. I'll manage somehow. That's not your problem" Sophie took the pen and signed the papers. "One last question. How should I refer to you or your boss?" She asked reluctantly.
"Assistant Noah for me and just boss for the boss" He took the papers. "See you tomorrow Miss Sophie" He put the headache medicine on the table and went out of the room. Knowing it's from "him" she didn't want to take it but the pain was to much. After taking the medicine, once again the girl looked through her copy. She even got her employee apartment close to the company.
Knowing that she only had a day to get ready and move to her new apartment, she quickly took her suitcases and checked out of the hotel. After driving in her Mercedes for several minutes she drove into the underground parking lot belonging to her new apartment. Sophie entered the code to the door and went inside. She looked around the modern apartment for a moment and then started unpacking. It was almost noon when she remembered she had to eat something. Otherwise she'll end up on the floor again. Not wasting any time, Sophie went to the closest restaurant to eat.
Unfortunately for her, her former secretary and her ex-fiance were sitting at one of the tables. Sophie wasn't going to worry about it. She knew exactly what to do. The sight of the traitors was not very pleasant, but the thought of their fall was much stronger. She sat down at one of the tables and ordered her first meal. While eating, out of the corner of her eye she noticed someone standing next to her table. She slowly looked dispassionately at the new couple embracing.
"Hello Sophie" Bethany began in an extremely cheerful voice. "Do you also come to this restaurant? Anthony said the food here is on another level and he was right. I hope you don't hold any grudge against me for what happened" She made an innocent face. "I thought you knew everything and didn't mind" She smiled, squeezing Anthony's shoulder. Sophie blinked a few times looking from one to another.
"Your point is?" She asked irritably.
"We still could be friends, don't you think?" Bethany was trying to pissed Sophie very hard but her play was too shallow.
"At which point of your life we started to be one?" She ask dully.
"From the beginning of course. Didn't you know?" She looked hurt. Sophie stand from her table and looked at Anthony.
"It will be an incredibly beautiful fall. I wish you luck. You will certainly need it" She paid for her meal and went back to her apartment.
Being in a shitty mood, the girl decided to buy herself some new clothes for work. She knew she was going to war with new coworkers and her father's company, so it wouldn't be easy. As evening approached, she bought some takeaway food in one of the restaurants and returned to the apartment. In the corridor she passed a young woman who recognized her immediately.
"You're from Forza...What are you doing here? Who let you in here? After they kicked you out, you came to spy and will beg to be taken back?" She started accusing her without giving her the opportunity to explain. The woman quickly dialed a number and a moment later a building guard approached them.
"This woman is a spy! Please call the police! She broke into the company building" She was pointing her finger rudely at Sophie. The guard glared at her.
"I've been living here since today" She said before something more serious happened. The guard and the woman froze. "If you don't believe me, please call your boss or his assistant. They will explain everything. Now, if you'll excuse me, my food is getting cold" She punched in the code on the door and entered her apartment leaving them bewildered.
She sighed heavily as she put the food on the table. After changing into comfortable clothes, she started eating.
"It'll be worse than I thought" She said to herself. "A spy, huh?" She picked at her food, knowing what she had gotten herself into.
After a filling meal, she took out her pajamas and went to the bathroom to run hot water in the bathtub. She was sitting on the tiles next to her, slowly stirring the water with her hand when her phone suddenly started ringing. Private number. Sophie frowned but answered the call.
"I heard that you already had your first meeting with your colleagues. How was it? Tomorrow they will definitely welcome you warmly with open arms" She heard his smirking through the phone.
"You fought so bravely for me. I can't give up because of a misunderstanding. I promise to tell the others that you tried your best to take me under your wing, seeing what an amazing person I am" She concluded.
"You know I can come to your apartment at any time" He threatened in a low voice. "From what I hear, you're taking a bath. I remember that the bathtubs can accommodate two" Chills appeared on the girl's skin.
"You won't dare..." She got angry.
"Try me" He growled.
"Darell!"
"Sophie…"
"Boss, there's a call for you" She heard on the phone.
"See you tomorrow, Miss Sophie" He ended the call and the girl hit her forehead on the edge of the bathtub.
"What have I gotten myself into?" She whispered with regret in her voice.
Sophie was very tired from recent situations, so she had no problems falling asleep. For a moment she was worried about a certain unpredictable man, but nature was stronger.
Five o'clock, like every day, the girl woke up without any problems. She felt much better after a good night's sleep. She did her morning toilette without an ounce of make-up, chose the right outfit and sat intently on the sofa, thinking about her hopeless life decisions... Just a joke. She thought of a plan that would somehow help her get through the day. Full of energy, she left the apartment and went towards the building of her greatest enemy, who would be her boss from now on. She entered the company a few minutes before seven and walked to the reception desk on the ground floor. A man in a navy blue suit was writing something behind his desk.
"Good morning. Sophie Forzani. I was supposed to report to work at seven. Could you please tell me where to go?" She asked politely, selling her professional smile.
"What department?" The man started typing something on the laptop.
"Marketing"
"Yes, you are in the system. You will receive your admission badge tomorrow. Please go to the fourth floor. The marketing department is located there" He explained.
"Thank you for the information"
Sophie walked towards the elevator and pressed the button for her floor. When she got there, she saw a large glass door with the inscription "Marketing Department". She went inside and looked around the room. Positions were separated as in any larger company. There was also a separate CMO room which, to her surprise, had her name and surname on it.
"It's not funny anymore. Does he want me murdered on the first day?" She said with bitterness. Reluctantly, she went inside only to see the main culprit sitting at a desk, tapping something on a laptop.
"Here you are. You made it. It's your new position and office. On your laptop you have everything you need to know about clients and our offers. Make yourself comfortable. You have some time until nine o'clock for the rest of the workers to arrive" He explained, looking at the extremely composed face of the girl who was listening carefully.
"I see. Will I be formally introduced to the company or should I expect to have a chat with the guards or the police before I can explain myself? I don't necessarily want to repeat yesterday's situation" She asked gently, looking into the man's black, shiny eyes. Darell leaned back in her chair and turned to face the window overlooking the rest of the city.
"Noah will introduce you. He'll come before you get lynched" A stupid smile on his face.
"Thank you for your concern…. boss" She nodded with a professional smile. "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to take a look at the data" She pointed to the laptop on the desk. The man got up from his chair and walked past her, stopping at the door.
