(DINNER AT THE AMSTELS)
Neriah picked on her food as she exchanged glances with Sam. Everywhere seems undeniably silent and there is a whole lot of tension around. She looked uncomfortable as her step mother had been quite since she arrived. She subconsciously tapped Nathan,who raised his eyebrow at her.
Yes,Nathan also came with her to the dinner. There was no way she would go into the enemies' den without bringing a companion though her father was displeased by it.
He never liked Nathan from the start as he considered him a peasant and distraction to her. Suddenly her step mother cleared her throat and she rolled her eyes.
"I guess the witch is about to speak"muttered Neriah earning a 'keep quiet look' from Nathan.
"Darling, don't you think this is the right time to tell Neriah about our wonderful plans" her step mother said with a smile that made Neriah feel that the plan is not as wonderful as she made it sound.
Her father cleared his throat as he stared at Neriah.
"Well,I and your mother have...."her father was saying when she interrupted.
"Point of correction, 'step mother'. I don't have a mother"Neriah said laying emphasis in the word 'step mother' and her father glared at her.
"We came to a conclusion that living alone is not good for you. It will make men view you as the irresponsible lady that you are not so we decided to get you married"her father paused allowing his words to sink in into her head.
"Fret not, you will be getting married into a rich home. The Brooks' son,Liam, wants you"added her step mom and Neriah scoffed.
"Okay, I think you both have gone too far with your jokes now. Who is getting married??To whom??"asked Neriah as she tries hard to keep her cool.
Nathan was shocked and his heart was palpitating fast. He didn't expect this to happen. He had secretly loved Neriah one-sidedly though he knew he stood no chance with her. She was a rich man's heiress while he was just a nobody driving her everywhere.
Although all odds was against him, he still stood by her side with the hope that one day she might view him as a man and not just a friend. Now,it seems like all hopes are shattered all because of her cunning step mother.
Yes,he was sure she was the one behind all the marriage issue. He never liked the woman from the start anyways.
Neriah stared at everyone seated round the table. What the fuck was happening to her? Marriage was not in her schedule even in the next ten years. She was just twenty years and they were already thinking of marrying her off.
"Damn you, Eliana!"she muttered as she glared at her step mom who smiled in return. A smile that wasn't a good one.
"What if I say 'NO' to the proposal?"Neriah asked in a calm tone she didn't know she possessed.
"Am sorry but your opinion doesn't matter here."her father said sternly and her step mom smiled at her.
"You have to be kidding me"said Neriah already losing it.
"Don't even dare go against me. You don't wanna know what the consequences will be"her father stated sternly and Neriah lost it as she slammed her hands on the table.
"I won't fucking get married to any bastard!And no one can force me to including you,daddy. Dare me, you also know what I can do. I bet you don't want me disappearing from the world."Neriah yelled as she glared at her dad.
She took one last glance at her step mom before marching out of the house.
Nathan bowed in courtesy and also went out.
"Wait up!"Nathan called out and Neriah halted her steps. She turned and her eyes were wet with tears.
"Come on,don't be a crybaby. You are not a kid anymore"said Nathan and Neriah ran into his chest as she sobbed.
"I don't want to get married"she echoed and he patted her back comfortingly.
"I know. We'll find a solution to this, I promise"Nathan said though he had no solution in mind.

Someone stayed in the darkness glaring at them as he balled his fists.
"Let's burn that bastard touching our mate to death"said his demon and his wolf growled in agreement while Lucifer tried to keep his cool.
"I never knew our mate could be this bitchy" growled Lucifer as he turned and blended with the darkness moving away from them.
"I don't trust that guy,he might harm mate. I don't like the idea of leaving her all alone with him"grumbled his wolf.
"Well,she ran into his arms voluntarily. So she's all his"commented his demon and Lucifer hummed in agreement.
He sometimes felt like his demon was more sensible than his wolf when it comes to matters concerning their mate.
"Well,she's ours to claim. I will see how you will have peace knowing someone is drilling our mate"his wolf said as he went into silence.
"I don't care"Lucifer replied nonchalantly though he couldn't deny he was disturbed.

"That's enough,Nerry" said Nathan as he snatched the bottle of beer from Neriah.
"Come on,don't be a joy killer. I just had a few bottles"said Neriah and Nathan scoffed.
"You call these a few??"Nathan asked as he pointed to the bottles on the floor. They were ten or more.
"I never knew you were a drunkard"commented Nathan and Neriah scoffed.
"Fuck you"she said as she tried to stand up but she slumped back to her chair. She tried to stand again but she fell again.
"Let me help"said Nathan as he held her by her waist while leading her out of the bar.

"That's it,I can't take it anymore"Lucifer's wolf growled as he came to the surface shoving Lucifer inside though they still remained in their human form.
Well,they planned on leaving but his grumbles made them tail after them silently until this happened.
He moved towards them and harshly pulled Nathan's hand away from Neriah's waist.
"Stay away from her,bastard"he growled and bawled his fangs at him as he pulled Neriah closer.
"Who the fuck are you?"Nathan yelled as he stared at the person before him.
Person??He wasn't even sure he's a person. He looks like some kind of creature. Who on earth as fangs??And what's with the red eyeballs??
Lucifer pushed his wolf back and took charge as he stared deadly at the man before him. He could just crush him in a blink of an eye but he would rather not cause a fuss in the human world.
"You will die if you know who I am so go to sleep"he said hypothetically and Nathan fell to the floor.
He looked at the drunk lady in his arms and sighed.
"Let's go home,mate"said Lucifer as he ran his hand through her cheeks.
