Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Sitting on the stairs in front of the house, for the first time in a long time, I ate a normal portion of breakfast. All thanks to Damon. Seeing how much I ate, he nodded with satisfaction and allowed me to stay at home as an exception today. A little after noon he appeared again with another portion of food. This time we ate at the table in my small living room.

"Would you like to go to the lake with me? There's no one there at this time" He suggested, tilting his head encouragingly.

"Sure. Why not" I nodded with a hint of excitement.

"Get dressed in something comfortable. I'll take the trays and I'll be back in a moment" He winked at me and I immediately blushed. I quickly went out to the bedroom, looking for appropriate clothes. I dressed in a loose T-shirt and thin black sweatpants. I put on comfortable sneakers and went outside, waiting for Damon. A few minutes later we were walking together on a new path, away from our homes.

I enjoyed the silence and the smell of the forest. I'm not hiding it. I was also enjoying something else. Or rather, someone. In his tight T-shirt and shorts, it was obvious how well-built he was. However, I tried not to stare too long so as not to be discovered. A few glances later, we saw a beautiful, small lake. On the far side, it was surrounded with tall, thick bushes, and closer to us there were several large, flat rocks next to it.

Without waiting a moment longer, I stepped onto one of the stones, took off my shoes, rolled up my pants and dipped my legs in the pleasantly cool water. I moaned softly with pleasure, slowly moving my feet. To my right I heard my favorite growl. I looked at Damon, who had his back to me and was running a hand through his hair. Had he seen something there? I knew that if something happened, he would definitely tell me, so I went back to admiring the views. Suddenly I heard water splashing. I looked around me and saw Damon swimming in the water. With efficient movements, he swam to the end of the lake at one pace. I looked at the clothes he left next to the tree and froze. He stripped himself of...everything. Literally everything... I looked at his silhouette, which had already reached the other end of the lake and was turning back. The closer he got to me, the more I felt heat rising to my face. He slowly swam towards my legs and smiled at me cheekily.

"You're not planning on throwing me into the lake, are you?" I asked shyly.

"Can you swim?" His hand began to slide up my submerged leg.

"I'll stay afloat, but that's all" I looked pleadingly into his cheeky eyes. He splashed water at me and quickly swam away as I kicked my legs in retaliation. We both laughed for a while. I lay down on the rock, closing my eyes and letting the sun dry me. I heard Damon come out of the water and immediately imagined him in all his glory. I covered my eyes with my hand, mentally scolding myself for it. I wasn't like that. Why did I feel like a horny woman around him? I've never been as attracted to other men as I am to him now.

While I was despairing in my thoughts, I didn't even notice how he sat down next to me and leaned on one hand, looking at me carefully. Calming my unwanted urges a bit, I sat down and started looking around, not seeing Damon. I almost fell into the water when I heard a grunt next to me. Holding my heart, I slowly turned my head behind me. And he took my breath away again. He was lying in only his shorts and the drops of water illuminated his entire muscular body. However, what caught my attention was the scar on his right side. It looked as if someone had ripped a piece of his flesh from that spot and somehow it had magically grown back. Of course, not so perfect, because roughness was visible. It was to late when I noticed that I was looking at him too intently.

"You can ask me. Who knows. Maybe I will answer you" He said without taking his eyes off me. I looked at him worriedly, not knowing if I should.

"So... How did this happen?" I asked quietly, staring at the large scar again. Damon sat down and stared aimlessly ahead.

"A few years ago we were attacked by a feral Alpha. While defending my own, I received this wound. Fortunately, he is no longer in this world." He lay down on a stone and began to bask in the sun.

"It must have hurt a lot" I frowned, knowing that someone had hurt my guard.

"It was a long time ago... I managed to forget"

"Do such attacks happen often?" I watched the clouds pass by, not noticing how I spoke to him without any hesitation.

"Practically never. Only truly feral wolves try to get across the border. The rest of them with some sense know that it's not worth it. Our pack is one of the strongest on this continent. You don't have to worry about anything. You're in no danger with me at your side" He thought for a moment and frowned. "I think I said it the wrong way again. Forgive me. I'm not very talkative and sometimes it's hard for me to choose the right words" He looked at my reddened face, smiling slightly.

"It's cool. I don't get to talk often either" I pulled my legs out of the water and let them dry in the sun. We lay there speechless, enjoying each other's company in silence.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. Damon still had a few things to do, so we headed back home. He brought me food again and we ate in silence. I waved him goodbye and went home in a good mood. After spending such a pleasant day in his company, I hoped that I would be able to sleep peacefully that night. I took a warm bath and, lying on the bed, took out one of my books and immersed myself in reading. Not knowing when I fell asleep. It was the first peaceful night with a full night's sleep.

I woke up in the morning, refreshed and full of strength. The belly immediately growled menacingly, demanding food. Smiling to myself that my body was finally getting the attention it needed, I went to the bathroom to clean up. I felt a little anxious knowing that I would spend today completely differently than yesterday. Dressed in a peach short-sleeved sweatshirt and black leggings, I went outside the house, waiting patiently for Damon. He emerged from his house a few minutes later, pleasantly surprised by my willingness. Together we headed towards the main house for breakfast.

"Don't worry and come with me" He said, taking my hand and leading me inside. I squeezed him tighter, knowing we would be eating with everyone else. Fortunately, there were only a few warriors at the large table, getting ready for training. We sat down away from the others and Damon started putting food on our plates. Staring at my plate, I prayed that no one would talk to me. Several people passed us and exchanged a few words with Damon.

After breakfast we went to the training ground near the main house. Damon took me to a bench under a tree, which was several meters from the field. I watched with curiosity what their training would look like, until the men started taking off their shirts. My, what chests they had. Whether young or old, they all had sculpted bodies. At first they did a few exercises before they started standing in twos and fighting among themselves. It was then that I saw for the first time how amazing their transformations into wolves looked. I noticed as quickly as I should, to turn my head when they started to transform back. Nudity didn't bother them. They put on shorts and started exercising as if nothing had happened. Every now and then I glanced at Damon as he and the other few gave loud orders and corrected the mistakes of some of the warriors.

Suddenly it became louder between the two fighting. The men shouted threateningly at each other and, despite Damon's warnings, they attacked each other, transforming into wolves. This fight looked much scarier than the others. Their barking and biting at each other was much worse. The place was not enough for them to fight freely and they started to move without looking at the others. At one moment they were dangerously close to me, but a moment later they were somewhere else. Suddenly, one of them managed to grab his opponent's hind leg and, taking a powerful swing, threw him with all his strength. To my horror, the thrown wolf flew straight at me.

"Tess, watch out!" I heard as I got over my shock and jumped to the side, miraculously avoiding colliding with the wolf. The bench I was sitting on a second ago shattered into splinters and one piece hit me just above my left eyebrow. Blood began to drip from the newly formed wound.
