The world was darkening before her eyes, she slowly inhaled the cold air that burned her nose and mouth, the raindrops hit her on the back as if they were small hammers, she barely took four steps when she fell into the forest mud. A thunderous lightning bolt in the sky echoed in her ears, causing the sound of the rain to increase, startling the dull beating of her heart even more. Her hands sank into the slippery mud as she tried to get up, she felt how every muscle in her numb body stopped responding to her efforts to stand up, she trembled, she was weak, she had no strength.
This time she wouldn't survive, she knew it, she was somehow able to get out of Raven's final attack, but it was just that, a small stroke of luck, her body was too weak, she couldn't resist anymore. She let herself fall completely into the mud taking her last breaths, lying face down on the ground, tasting the earth impregnated with water, rotting leaves, and the taste of defeat.
Was this how things ended for Cinder Fall? Her life was summed up to evil and darkness, she did nothing good in her existence, everything was killing, destroying, terrorizing... if anyone were to remember her, it would surely be because of her horrible actions.
She didn't know if she felt sorry for all her evil or if it was the fact that she was dying. In any case, it didn't matter anymore, everything was over, she felt her life slipping out of her hands, she wanted to close her eyes so that everything would be over once and for all but a quiet sound distracted her.
She could barely hear it since the state of her body prevented her from using her senses. It seemed like the sound of quiet, soft, and not very safe steps, but they were getting closer, right at her, maybe someone wanted to finish her off. Cinder guided her eye until That sound made my jaw tense, waiting for what was to come.
" Are you OK? "
A female voice asked her, Cinder moved her arm, at least not hers but the one that was replaced by a Grimm's arm, it would have more strength than her own body, she heard the woman's small cry of surprise when she did it. I observed, that horrible part of the monster that was now a member of her, the young woman fell to her knees, a fact that the black-haired woman took advantage of to gather some power, she raised her head, lighting that relentless and powerful fire in her orbs and looked at her attacker, Brown hair tied in a kind of ponytail or bun, light violet eyes, a horrified face. Was it a threat?
That woman was just scared... no... in any case, she should not show weakness, she would be dignified until the last moment, the flames in her gaze grew more, in a threatening way, she would end up with her, her last victim... another one on her list... But should I do it? That girl hadn't done her any harm... she shouldn't have done it...
But that was it, she couldn't make the decision, her body didn't resist, immediately turning off her power and completely obscuring her gaze, Cinder fell into the deep darkness, it was the end.
There was still a flame inside her, a spark, that didn't feel the same as the fire she had always had, it was a different kind of fire, she had never felt anything like it, it didn't burn, it was warm but it didn't burn, it wasn't the fire that she felt. It hurt her, that fire repaired her... it seemed to be transforming her... it seemed to be calling her.
Come back... Come on, please come back.
I know that you can
Resist, you are strong.
Listen to my voice and come back.
Come back
She began to regain consciousness little by little, her head was pounding with a sharp penetrating pain, she still did not have the strength to open her eyes and she felt that the world around her was spinning, a delicious smell penetrated her nostrils, something that after... for a few moments she normalized her condition, she managed to open her eye that was attacked by the blinding light, she blinked a few times to try to get used to the light of that place.
It took her several more minutes to open her good eye to see clearly, astonishment hit her, she was lying on a soft double bed in what seemed to be a cozy cabin. Where was she? What was that place? She barely had the strength to move her head slightly but inside she was panicking. Didn't she die? Why was she there?
" Hello " Cinder quickly guided her gaze towards that voice, finding that it was the same woman she saw before she fell unconscious " You're already awake," she said with some relief and a big smile on her face.
The black-haired woman opened her mouth and tried to speak but her voice didn't come out, she only made very quiet gasps, her throat was sore with dryness, she turned her head to both sides trying to speak desperately but only achieving muffled and pathetic gasps.
" Oh, wait," said the brunette, taking a glass of water from a nearby table " This will help you " She brought it to her mouth and tried to take her head to help her drink that liquid.
Cinder moved her face away from that girl's hand, looking at her with distrust and suspicion. What did that woman want?
"Don't worry," she said, frowning slightly. "I just want to help you." Cinder's body hurt terribly, she couldn't move alone, and even moving her head caused her tremendous discomfort. She blinked resignedly, pursing her lips, and allowed the brunette to bring her hand closer to her with the glass of water.
The young woman gently lifted her chin to help her drink, for Cinder that cool liquid was like heaven, it greatly relieved her sore and dry throat, to which she even unconsciously became desperate to drink more. The young brunette gave a small laugh, happy for the black-haired girl's positive reaction.
" Take it easy, stay calm " She removed the empty glass from her lips " That will help you " she smiled kindly.
Cinder stared at her with her eyebrows furrowed and an expression of bewilderment and some suspicion, she didn't even blink, this made the other girl uncomfortable, making her scratch her chin, uncomfortable and embarrassed by the other's scrutiny.
" Ahh, ummm Hello? "
" Who are you? " She asked the brunette with a dry and hoarse voice.
" My name is Tessa " she responded excitedly " What is yours? " Cinder remained silent assimilating what was happening. Then she let out a sigh and looked to the side of her without wanting to give any answer to that strange woman.
The young brunette sighed resignedly and stood up. "Well, since the lady is not in the mood to talk, I'll go finish preparing the soup. You're quite dehydrated so it would be good for you to drink liquids."
"You're making a mistake," she told her without looking at her.
" Sorry? "
" Helping me… it's a mistake "
Tessa thought about it for a few seconds, looking at the ground with concentration " Yes, it's something I already thought " Then she raised her gaze to observe her with eminent affection " And…. It doesn't really matter, I'll do it anyway "
Her response caught Cinder's attention and she looked at her with wide, surprised eyes. Did she not care? After seeing that she was a monster, heartless and deformed? The brunette smiled slightly and continued on her way to the kitchen.
"Cinder"
" Mmmm? "
"My name… my name is Cinder"
The young woman smiled happily, a small blush of happiness covered her skin. "Well, it's... really a pleasure, Cinder," she nodded and then disappeared through the door, leaving the black-haired girl just as surprised.
