Before leaving, Knight remembered something important and turned to Jude.
"Once the second-generation rings are manufactured, I need to personally add Internet magic to each of them; otherwise, they won't work. Contact me when the first batch is ready."
Jude nodded in understanding. Now that he could use the magic network, staying in touch with Knight was easy. He glanced back at Lucy, seated in the carriage, and smiled warmly.
"Lucy, enjoy your time with the guild. If you ever need anything, just reach out to your father."
"Got it, Dad. Goodbye!" Lucy waved to her father and the servants gathered to see her off. Then, turning to Knight, she wrapped her arms around his waist and urged, "Let's go, Knight."
Knight activated the obsidian motorcycle, slowly picking up speed as they left the villa. The magical two-wheeled windmill revved as Lucy stretched her arms wide, enjoying the breeze from the back seat.
"You're really happy, huh?" Knight glanced over his shoulder at her.
"Thank you, Knight. I never expected I'd be able to reconcile with my father on this trip." Lucy's voice was light with relief. "After my mother passed away, he became completely obsessed with money, always ignoring me."
Knight smiled to himself. Your father cares about you more than you think.
"Hold on tight," Knight warned. "I'm speeding up."
He twisted the handle, and the vehicle surged forward.
"Ahhh! Slow down!" Lucy shrieked, laughing as she held on to him even tighter.
Meanwhile, at one of the underground bases of the Dark Guild Oración Seis, things were getting more serious.
"This magic... it's extraordinary. A genius created this," remarked Brian, the leader of the Oración Seis, known as "Brain." He had dark skin, white hair, and carried a skull-shaped staff in his hand.
Angel, the only female in the group, lazily sat at the table, engrossed in an online Mahjong game. "I just think it's fun," she said nonchalantly. "Though one of the opponents, 'Traveler Who Departed,' is so slow... it's like he's not even paying attention."
"Forget about games," Cobra, the Poison Dragon Slayer, sneered. "You should focus on how easy it would be to make money off this magic. It's stupid not to capitalize on it."
Brain shook his head at Cobra's comment. "He's much smarter than you. If I were him, I'd adopt a similar strategy—like fishing with bait. Reel them in first, then when the time is right, you can harvest them."
While Cobra focused on making money, Brain was far more intrigued by the magic behind the Internet itself.
"It's not just a tool for commissions," Brain mused. "It's a combination of various magics—messaging, reading, storing knowledge—an integration of so many ancient techniques in one system."
The sheer scope of the Internet's coverage fascinated him. He opened the group chat for the Oración Seis.
[Six Demons] Chat Group
Leader: Lissa, where are you?
The world's fastest: Long gone from Fiore, and I still can't see the limit of the magic's reach.
Brain grinned, "Look at that! Such an enormous range. What magic can compete with this?"
Angel raised an eyebrow. "Doesn't this break the basic rules of magic? What kind of magic power is driving something so vast? Even Jellal couldn't do this."
Brain's eyes narrowed. "I've tried everything to understand the core of this magic—dissection spells, tracking the flow of power—but nothing has worked."
He clenched his fist. "When I was head of the Magic Development Bureau, I created hundreds of spells. Yet, compared to the Internet, it all feels... insignificant. We need to find its creator. I need his power."
The rest of the Oración Seis exchanged glances. Cobra's cobra hissed softly beside him.
Brain's thoughts were already racing ahead. "Hot Eyes," he said, turning to one of his subordinates, "go find this magic's creator. Take Lissa with you to ensure success."
"Understood," Hot Eyes replied, switching off the magic network. He was more than ready for this task. After all, "money is everything," as he always said.
Cobra's thoughts, however, were elsewhere. Two of us going after this guy? He listened in on Brain's inner monologue:
The Internet is too bright. I want to build the dark version—an underground network for the shadow world.
For that, I need power. Your power, Knight.
A week had passed since Knight and Lucy's visit to her father's estate. Feeling energized, Knight stepped out of the guild.
With his Thought Body doing the heavy lifting, coding for the Magic Network Express was progressing quickly, and the project would be finished in about ten days. The Thought Body was housed in a rented place just outside Magnolia, working twenty hours a day with breaks for hibernation. Knight handled the more complex tasks and took advantage of the [Library] feature to study new magic daily.
In just seven days, his magical power had increased from three stars to four—a rapid progression almost on par with Erza's.
When the Magic Network Express is done, I'll probably reach five stars, Knight thought, satisfied with his progress. Who needs meditation when you can level up this easily?
But just as he mused over his success, a figure flashed in front of him, moving with lightning speed.
Before Knight could fully process it, the person was already behind him.
"Well, well," Knight said, recognizing the presence. "One of the Six Generals of the Dark Guild, here already?"
