Chapter 47 - Chapter 46

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The ocean trembled slightly, and the coastal waters seemed to be boiling. Laxus, now fully immersed in the rage of dragon-slaying magic, was emanating a powerful aura. Unlike the magic from his regular elemental thunder, the aura from his Thunder Dragon Slayer Magic was far more intense and domineering.

"The magic power drains so quickly. Is dragon-slaying magic really this costly?"

Knight calmly observed Laxus with his six eyes, sipping the last of his coffee. In his enhanced vision, he could see Laxus's magic power depleting at an alarming rate. Before, even after casting several spells and using a massive attack, Laxus had only dropped from a five-star to a four-star power level. But once he activated his dragon-slaying magic, his magic was being burned at a much faster rate.

It made sense now why dragon slayers needed to consume elements to replenish their strength. Without that ability, they couldn't maintain such power for long.

"The roar of the Thunder Dragon!"

Suddenly, Laxus inhaled deeply, gathering massive amounts of lightning into his lungs. With a powerful exhale, he released it in a golden beam of lightning, aiming directly at Knight.

Knight teleported out of the way just as the beam was about to hit him. But Laxus, expecting this, swept his attack sideways, like a long, electric whip. Knight used his Flying Thunder God technique once more, narrowly dodging the attack, which continued into the nearby forest, setting the trees ablaze.

Erza and Juvia were forced to retreat further, their eyes wide in shock.

Laxus was strong, but he couldn't seem to land a hit on Knight.

Suddenly, Knight appeared behind Laxus and threw a punch.

But this time, Laxus was ready. He turned just in time to meet the blow, his forehead absorbing the impact.

Bang!

The fist didn't physically connect with his head, but the vibration from Knight's magic collided with the thunder scales protecting Laxus.

"His defense has reached another level," Knight noted with some surprise. Laxus had become strong enough to withstand his shock magic.

Knight wasn't done, though. He quickly ramped up his magical output. With the aid of his six eyes, he made sure that every drop of magic he expended was used efficiently.

The next moment, Laxus was sent flying, his brain rattled by the impact of Knight's enhanced punch. But the Dragon Slayer wasn't out yet. Stabilizing himself midair, Laxus clenched his fist, conjuring a Fang Tian halberd out of pure lightning.

"You won't dodge this!" Laxus roared, hurling the halberd with all his strength.

The weapon shot through the air like a beam of light, heading straight for Knight.

Knight, now burning even more magic power, raised his hand and caught the halberd by its tip. The two forces clashed in midair, the dragon-slaying magic and super magic locked in a fierce stalemate.

For seven long seconds, they held their positions.

Then, with a sharp crack, Knight crushed the halberd in his hand.

"What?!" Laxus exclaimed in disbelief as he fell back to the ground.

"Even dragon-slaying magic won't help you if you haven't fully mastered it," Knight commented coolly. "At best, you're a young dragon."

Before Laxus could react, Knight disappeared again and reappeared right in front of him, his fist wrapped in a soft, milky-white glow. It looked harmless, but the power behind it was overwhelming.

With a devastating punch, Knight slammed Laxus's head into the ground.

"Earthquake!"

Boom!

The ground cracked and crumbled under the force of the blow, leaving a massive crater, 100 meters wide. The surrounding area, already torn apart from their battle, was now completely devastated.

Juvia, watching from a distance, gasped in shock. "Did Lord Knight win?"

Erza shielded her face from the flying debris, squinting to see through the dust. Finally, as the smoke cleared, they saw Laxus lying unconscious in the center of the crater, his face partially sunken in.

Knight stood over him, deep in thought.

"It seems like Knight won," Erza said, letting out a sigh of relief as she and Juvia hurried over.

"Knight, are you okay?" Erza asked.

"Lord Knight~!" Juvia cried, admiration glowing in her eyes.

Knight hoisted the unconscious Laxus onto his shoulder. "He'll need a few days of rest at the guild. Let's head back."

As they prepared to leave, Knight mentally checked his magic reserves.

[Magic status]:

Not bad—still half a heart left.

Most of his magic had been spent dealing with Laxus's Fang Tian halberd. And then there was the coffee he had teleported to Hargeon to buy earlier.

Knight chuckled to himself. His space-time magic, Flying Thunder God, was convenient, but the farther the distance, the more magic it consumed. He had hoped to provoke Laxus into using the Fairy Law, but the young mage had refused.

Oh well, he thought. At least he still had some magic left.

"Honestly, if Laxus were stronger, I might've run out of magic," Knight mused aloud. If that happened, he would have to tap into his reserve mana stored in the deep web, a source vast enough to last for ages, thanks to the ever-expanding internet.

But Knight was careful. He preferred not to tap into it unless absolutely necessary.

Just as they were about to head for the ship, a shout rang out behind them.

"Wait!"

Knight turned to see Leon and his companions rushing toward them, looking worse for wear. It was clear they had gotten caught up in the battle.

Leon clutched his shoulder, his eyes burning with determination.

"You're strong!" he said. "Stronger than my master, Uru!"

Knight inwardly chuckled. Uru's ghost was right next to him, though no one else could see her. He wondered what expression she had hearing her former student say that.

"After Deliora's death, my goal of surpassing Uru was shattered. But now…" Leon continued, clenching his fist. "You're my new target! One day, I will challenge you again!"

Knight sighed, turning away from Leon and waving nonchalantly. "Magic is more than just fighting, you know. If you're really interested, check out the internet when you leave here."

Without another word, Knight walked off, Laxus slung over his shoulder.
