NARUTO POV:
Naruto was hungry. Scratch that he was STARVING. He hadn't eaten anything for the past 48 hours. He would have searched the trash for food but people had taken to dumping only spoilt food disguised as normal in hopes of causing him food poisoning.
He was just going into a branch alleyway when the anbu with a cat mask appeared in front of him. She looked at his garbage covered body for a second before grabbing his hand and they flickered away to the orphanage. When Naruto regained his bearings he stumbled for a couple seconds before looking up to see the unusually unhappy looking Hokage.
Hiruzen POV:
Hiruzen was very upset. He had arrived to the orphanage 2 hours ago to check on his non- biological blonde grandson and give him his birthday present. Instead the orphanage keeper said that Naruto had 'stepped out to have fun'. He might even have believed her had she not had a huge victorious smirk plastered over her face. He had sent out one of his most trusted anbu out to find him. Neko and Inu were the ones who usually kept watch over him so he trusted that neko could find him easily.
Not that easy apparently because it took her 2 hours. When he saw Naruto's dirty clothes and the way he was trying not to be caught looking at the orphanage keeper Hiruzen was able to figure out what had happened.
"So... Would you mind explaining why little Naruto here is covered in trash and looking so underfed or should I try and guess?" Hiruzen asked the keeper, who had gone pale and was shaking under his killing intent.
Without waiting for an answer Hiruzen picked Naruto up and walked away, not minding the sound of a sword being drawn nor the horrified scream of the keeper as he said to Naruto "Come on, Naruto. Lets go get some ramen before i give you your birthday present."
NARUTO POV:
" Come on, Naruto. Lets go get some ramen before i give you your birthday present." Naruto heard hokage Jiji's voice say.
Right, it was his birthday. Naruto didn't care much for birthdays since his were usually like every other day except His Jiji and the ichiraku family were the only ones who were even remotely polite towards him so he figured he should just humour them but he seriously didn't see the point of it.
He supposed that to most people it was something to celebrate. Despite this train of thought Naruto was not a cold person. In fact he was grinning ear to ear when he heard the words "Ichiraku's ramen".
He decided to re-evaluate his opinion on birthdays if it included free ramen and gifts every time. Free or not free, ramen was ramen. The hokage did a quick water jutsu to drench Naruto and clean off the filth that was on him before doing a fire jutsu which dried him off.
"If i could bathe like that every day..." Naruto muttered, thinking about how annoying it was to scrub every part of him manually.
As they ate their delicious ramen Hiruzen said to Naruto " I think you are old enough to live outside the orphanage now, what do you think?" .
Naruto just shrugged and said in his usual cheerful loud voice " Once is start the academy I'd be spending most of my time there or training so ok dattebayo"
Hiruzen nodded and said that he already had a great place in mind for Naruto to live at.
As he completed this sentence he almost fell off his chair when he saw that Naruto was already on his 11th bowl even though he had been on his 4th not even a minute ago.
"You should eat other things too you know, Without proper nutrition your body cant grow".
Naruto just gave him a pout and said " I'm average height for my height dattebayo" in a slightly raised and annoyed look.
Hiruzen just gave him a look which said 'sure, sure you are'.
" A new place eh? Well then, the rest of todays is on the house on account of your birthday and you getting a new place." Teuchi, the ramen stand owner, said as he stepped out of the back with even more noodles.
"HECK YEAAH!" Naruto shouted. Teuchi, Hiruzen and Ayame (Teuchi's daughter) just sweat dropped at this.
Naruto felt great. He was out of the orphanage. He would be independent now. This was a new beginning
