The History of the World – 4,000 Years Ago

Long before the current era of players and sprawling villages, the world of Minecraft was vastly different—a land of ancient civilizations, powerful magic, and elemental forces that shaped the very fabric of existence. At the heart of this world was an era known as the Era of Titans, a time when powerful sages, who mastered both light and dark energies, ruled over their respective domains. They were revered as gods, capable of creating and destroying with mere whispers of their will.

Among the many sages, one rose to great infamy: Zaldor, the Dark Sage. Unlike the other sages who sought balance between light and dark, Zaldor was driven by an insatiable hunger for power. He delved deeper into the forbidden arts of dark magic, a force linked to an ancient, malevolent world beyond the boundaries of the known universe. While others focused on maintaining harmony between light and dark, Zaldor sought to tip the scales—he wanted to become the embodiment of pure darkness.

Zaldor discovered that the source of all dark energy came from a distant realm, a world where chaos and evil thrived unchecked. This Otherworld, as it was called, was a dimension where no light existed, and its inhabitants were beings of immense, destructive power. Zaldor became obsessed with the idea of unlocking this realm's energy and harnessing it for himself.

Through years of study, Zaldor created a series of rituals designed to open a gate between the this world and the Otherworld. His plan was to extract all of the dark energy from that realm and infuse it into himself, believing that doing so would make him invincible—capable of ruling over not only the Minecraft world but all worlds.

When Zaldor's ritual was completed, a massive portal tore open the sky, and an unfathomable darkness poured into the land. The energy was overwhelming, and as the power surged through the gate, the Otherworld was destroyed—drained of its life force, leaving behind a barren, shattered plane. The dark energy Zaldor had harnessed was so immense that the world itself began to crack under the weight of it. Natural disasters struck the land—volcanoes erupted, oceans raged, and the skies turned black with storms of ash and lightning.

However, Zaldor had miscalculated. The sheer magnitude of the dark energy was too great for even his powerful body to absorb. His soul, though dark and twisted, could not contain the unbridled force of the Otherworld's essence. As he attempted to merge with the power, his body began to tear apart from the inside. Realizing that his mortal form could not withstand such raw power, Zaldor was forced to act quickly.

In a desperate bid to avoid destruction, Zaldor created a vessel to contain the majority of the energy—a crystal, crafted from the purest obsidian and enchanted with ancient spells. This crystal became known as the Dark Crystal. Zaldor sealed 80% of the dark energy inside it, hiding it deep beneath the earth in a forgotten cave system. The remaining 15% was stored in a weaker crystal kept within his private sanctum, while he retained 5% of the dark power for himself—just enough to grant him immortality and vastly enhanced strength.

Though he had failed to become the all-powerful being he had envisioned, Zaldor had still succeeded in becoming immortal. But his failure meant that his ambitions were far from over. He would bide his time, waiting for the right moment to retrieve the energy and complete his ascension.

Zaldor's actions had devastating consequences for the world. The balance between light and dark, which had been carefully maintained for millennia, was shattered. The sages of light, realizing the scale of Zaldor's betrayal, united against him, sparking a great war—The War of Souls. This war pitted the remaining sages, warriors, and kingdoms of light against Zaldor's dark forces. It was a brutal and bloody conflict that ravaged the land.

During this war, the nature of the dual souls was revealed. Every being in the world was created with two souls: one of light and one of darkness. The light soul symbolized hope, creation, and unity, while the dark soul represented ambition, destruction, and greed. Zaldor had attempted to exploit this duality, hoping to rid himself of his light soul entirely, which would have allowed him to ascend as a being of pure darkness. Though he had failed, the war exacerbated the internal conflict in every being—many were consumed by their dark souls, becoming twisted and corrupted by Zaldor's influence.

The final battle of the War of Souls took place in a once-flourishing kingdom that had been reduced to ruin by Zaldor's actions. The combined forces of the light sages, warriors, and the few remaining uncorrupted kingdoms cornered Zaldor in his lair. With his dark crystal hidden deep underground and his forces dwindling, Zaldor fought with a ferocity only possible through his dark soul.

However, a Prodigy of the light soul emerged during the battle—an individual born with only one soul, a light soul of immense power. The prophecy had spoken of such a being, one who could stand against Zaldor's darkness. This prodigy, wielding a legendary weapon of light, managed to weaken Zaldor and force him into hiding. Zaldor, realizing that he could not win, fled into the shadows, leaving behind his dark crystal, still hidden beneath the earth.

The light sages, knowing that they could not destroy the dark crystal, opted to seal it away, hoping that no one would ever find it. They bound the dark energy within with powerful spells and deep enchantments, ensuring that it would remain dormant for millennia. The Prodigy and the remaining sages vanished from the world, their task complete, and the world slowly began to heal.

Over the centuries, the memory of Zaldor and the War of Souls faded into legend, and the true nature of the dark crystal was forgotten. Only ancient texts and hidden ruins held clues to the events of 4,000 years ago. Zaldor, still alive and immortal, wandered the earth in disguise, biding his time, waiting for someone to find the dark crystal and break its seal.

This dark legacy would remain buried until the day two unsuspecting players—Hiro and Ronan—stumbled upon the crystal, breaking its chains and releasing the dark energy once again. Zaldor, now operating under the name Elandor, saw this as his chance to finally reclaim what was his and complete the ascension he had failed to achieve millennia ago.

The world had once again been thrust into the age-old battle between light and dark. But this time, the stakes were even higher, for if the dark crystal's energy were to fully return to Zaldor, the balance of the entire world would be destroyed, and nothing could stand in the way of his dominion. The struggle that began 4,000 years ago had resurfaced, and the souls of every being hung in the balance.
