Joanna excused herself from her co-workers to avoid holding back her ruthless words.
"It's not appealing enough, so I lost my appetite. Anything else?" she asked, using the same words he had used against her that morning.
Alex was frustrated. A contract was supposed to be peaceful, especially with rules and regulations to follow, but somehow, things were turning the other way with Joanna making it difficult for him.
"We need to talk."
Joanna felt indebted to Betty and the chef. The only person with the power to reinstate them was Alex, so she had to make things difficult for him to consider doing her bidding.
"I'm busy tonight and will be spending the night at my apartment."
At the other end of the line, Alex was furious, and Aiden, who had his own problems, could only endure the change in Alex's demeanor as he spoke on the phone.
