Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

It's rainy season already. The season which I love and hate the most. Holidays were over. Mom goes to school daily. Krish joined the college I studied. Dad is busy with his restaurant works. I am the only one who has nothing to do.

It's boring to stay at home alone all day long. From past few days I have been visiting Tara and Aarav. Tara is not bored at home because she is busy talking to Aarav all day long. Her mother is a home maker and she is not alone at home like me.

Dad bought me the costliest phone but I don't use it much. All my other friends joined in local colleges, kept themselves busy. I devoted myself to knitting all day long. Now I had already knitted sweaters to my parents and Krish. Mom said they are so beautiful. She kept them in the rack safe and we are going to use them in the coming winter.

Krish already started studying for longer hours. He is the busiest person in our family now. Dad bought him a PC tablet so that he can study through internet. Krish made a time table for himself. He barely has time to talk to us.

Next week will be the counselling to get into the IITs. I decided to get into IIT Madras. It has the number one ranking in the IITs list. Tara and Aarav also want to get along with me. We never left each other. Now we want to join our Engineering in the same college too.

It's weekend already. There is no rain from past few days. Mom cooked few sweets and other dishes. We are visiting Aarav's home today. Aarav's mom and my mom are childhood best friends. Tara's dad and my dad are childhood best friends. Together we are like a family.

It's afternoon and we came to Aarav's home. Mom cooked food for Krish. Dad went to the restaurant early today. Aarav's mom, Aunt Lakshmi opened the door and we went inside. She and mom hugged each other. We used to visit here once in a month.

Three of us sat on the sofa. Mom handed over the sweets and dishes to Aunt Lakshmi. Aarav is not at home. Aunt Lakshmi said that he went to meet some other friend. I know who that friend could be. It's Tara obviously. She said that she is meeting Aarav this morning.

Aunt Lakshmi congratulated me. She said that she wanted to me visit me on the results day but she is out of the city. Mom and aunt chit chatted about their holidays and other school related topics. Aunt is my mom's colleague in school too.

Mom teaches mathematics for high school students and aunt teaches physics. Mom said that Aunt is with her through her thick and thin. They are neighbours in childhood. Someone knocked the door. Aunt opened the door and Aarav is standing outside.

Four of us sat for lunch. Aunt cooked all my mom's and my favourite dishes. We had our lunch and sat near the TV. Mom called Krish to know if he had eaten or not. Krish said Yes and hang up her call.

Mom said Krish has been working hard these days and has no time for a small talk. Aarav and I talked about our admission into IIT madras. Aarav is the only child to Aunt Lakshmi and Uncle Raghu. Uncle Raghu works in Saudi Arabia. Every year aunt and Aarav go there to visit him. This year they didn't because Aarav is busy preparing for JEE.

Aunt Lakshmi is very fond of me. She always wanted a daughter and she treats me like her own daughter. She used to bring many chocolates, clothes and accessories for me and Krish from Saudi. She said uncle will visit India when Aarav is getting an admission.

The clock bell rang. It's 4:00 p.m. already. Mom said it's time to leave. She invited aunt and Aarav for lunch next weekend. Aunt gave me a gift. I hugged and thanked her. She gave me a forehead kiss. She gives me forehead kisses every time I visit her since childhood.

Mom and I returned home. Krish is still in his room studying. I opened the gift aunt gave me. It's a beautiful watch. I love watches a lot. This is the best watch I have now. There is a note saying – "Congratulations! Dear Saanvi Princess. You deserve all the happiness and success in this world. Love You".

I called aunt and thanked her for giving me this beautiful watch. I showed it to mom and she loved it too. I am going to wear this watch on my first day of college.

Grandma is coming here tomorrow. Grandma stays half year at uncle's and half year with us. Father and Uncle Vijay are her only sons. Grandpa died when I was in my fifth standard.

Uncle Vijay is a civil engineer in Mussorie. His wife Aunt Suma is a teacher too. They have two children, Pritam and Shriya. Pritam and Shriya are still in their school. They visit us every summer holidays. This time they went to their grandmas.

It's Sunday. Grandma came home. We greeted her and took blessings. Grandma brought us some gifts. From tomorrow I don't end up staying alone. Grandma will be with me.

Sunday passed by. Everyone left for their works. Grandma and I sat near Tv and watched for some time. In the afternoons, she taught me how to stitch clothes and embroidery work. She worked as a tailor for nearly forty years. From past ten years, she didn't stitch.

Days went very well with grandma being my side. I enjoyed spending time with her. I haven't met Tara and Aarav since grandma came here. I am very much fond of my Grandma Annapurna. Now I have to wait for my admission.
