Few days passed but I couldn't find my watch anywhere. Tara asked everyone in the class about the watch and everyone said they haven't found it anywhere. I think Aarav also knew that I had lost my watch. This watch is the most precious for me. I had lost it when I wore it for the first time.
I was sitting alone on a bench under the tree. Aarav came to me. He asked – "What's wrong with you Saanvi? Why are you here alone? Where are Tara and Sheetal?" I told Aarav that Tara and Sheetal went to buy some snacks. I cannot tell Aarav how sorry I am. I am unable to look into his face.
Aarav sat beside of me and said – "Don't worry Saanvi. It isn't your fault in losing it. We know how much responsible you are. So don't think much about it." In the mean time Tara and Sheetal came. Tara shouted at Aarav for making me uncomfortable.
Tara is about to pick a fight with Aarav. I don't want them to fight because of me. I told Aarav how sorry I am. Tara held my hand and said not to worry. Aarav told me not to think about it anymore. Tara and I started walking to the class by holding hands.
We came to the class and sat in our bench. Ajay is sitting in his bench but I couldn't find Ritwik. Sheetal asked Ajay where did Ritwik go. Ajay told her that he doesn't know. Ajay asked me to give him my mobile number. We exchanged each other's. Sheetal and Tara also exchanged their numbers with Ajay.
Ritwik is coming from the front door. Sana went to Ritwik and said hello. He didn't look at her and came to his place silently. Why can't he even say hello back? I asked Sheetal to exchange the place but she denied. I asked her why she didn't want to change her place. She said that she doesn't wants to get upset.
Few senior students came to our class and they said that they are arranging Freshers Day next week. They said that everyone in the class need to participate in the programs. Aarav and Sheetal want to perform a dance but I don't want to dance as I am not good with the moves.
Everyone in the class gave their names for different activities. Sheetal and I want to perform a play. We need some other people for the play. I asked Ajay if he can perform with us and he said that he is ready to perform. He asked what is the drama we are willing to play.
Sheetal said that it will be better to play Snow White and Seven Dwarfs. She said that she will play the villain character. I asked her who will be the main female character. She said that I should play the role of Snow White. I said I cannot do it and I am willing to do a narration. Tara said that she will do the narration part.
Sheetal asked her why Tara wants to do the narration when she is already involved in dancing. Tara said that she wants to take part in the play instead of dancing. She wants to be with her friends. Sheetal and I thanked her. Both of them convinced me to play the role of Snow White.
Now the main female character is fixed. We need to find someone good enough for the Prince role. I asked Ajay if he can play the role. Aarav and Ajay said that they are willing to play the role of dwarfs. We told them to find someone for the role of Prince. They said they will try.
In the evening Tara and I returned to our room. We sat on the bed and started preparing the script. Next week is not so long. Until four days will be the Freshers Day. We need to prepare everything within four days. Tara shouted and said – "Saanvi, I have a suggestion for the prince."
I asked her who that could be. She said Ritwik. I said no way. She said to ask him tomorrow. I said I cannot. Tara said Ritwik is the perfect match for the role of Prince as he is the Prince charming of our university. Tara forced me to agree her decision. She said to ask Ritwik tomorrow.
Next day…
There are no classes until Freshers Day as everyone is busy practicing. Ajay and Aarav are sitting on their bench. I couldn't find Ritwik anywhere. Tara asked Ajay where Ritwik is. He said that Ritwik went out. Tara said that we should go out and find Ritwik immediately.
Tara and I came out of the class to find Ritwik. We started walking in the corridors of our block and searched for him, but couldn't find him. Tara got a call from Aarav and she left. I need to solely find him now. This is a huge task for me.
I came to Cafeteria but I couldn't find him. Then I went to library but I couldn't find him. I went to playground but I couldn't find him. I searched him everywhere but I couldn't find him. Now my legs are paining as I have walked for too long.
Where did this boy go? Why Tara wants him rather than any others? This girl has lost her senses. I texted Tara that couldn't find him. She is not online and didn't reply to my text. I called Sheetal but she didn't pick my call. Let me rest for a while here.
"Take this water bottle," someone whispered. I turned my head and it's him. "Are you looking for something?" he asked me. I said you. He asked why. He told me to drink the water first and tell the reason later. I opposed to drink. Last time when he offered me water, he left his bottle with me and I have forgotten to return to him.
"You are bottle is still with me. I will hand over it to you tomorrow" I told him. He said it's fine. I took the water bottle from him and drank the water as I am thirsty. He sat next to me within a half meter distance.
He asked me why I was looking for him. I told him that I need his favour. "Ritwik, I need to ask you something. It's not a query but a request" I uttered. "What? A request?" he questioned.
"We are playing a drama on Freshers Day and I need your favour" - I whispered. I told him that he needs to play the role of the Prince in our drama. He asked me why he is the one. I told him that my other friends want him to play that role badly. He asked me if am happy with their decision or not. I said I am fine with anyone. The truth is I don't want him to play the role. I cannot look into his eyes.
I think I need to request him. This boy sounds weird. Why he is going to accept my request? "OK Lotus. I will play the role" he said. Lotus? Who is lotus? I have a name. Why is he calling me with such random names every time I talk to him. Fool.
"I am not Lotus" I said. "Then what's your name again?" - he asked. I said Saanvi. Doesn't he even know my name? Let it be. I should ask his phone number not to talk with him everyday but keep track of the drama. "Give me your phone" – he uttered. I asked why. He said that he needs my number for the drama sake as I said earlier.
Ritwik and I exchange our phone numbers. I am the first girl in the class to talk to him and get his phone number. Ritwik and I started walking to the class. I told him not to walk beside me. He asked the reason. I told him that girls of our class may suspect something. He laughed. This is the very first time I saw him laughing. He looked so good while laughing. Why can't he be like this all the time?
Both of us returned to the class. I came first and he came ten minutes past to me. I told everyone that Ritwik accepted to play the role. Everyone is in a shock. Ajay asked if it was real. Ritwik didn't talk anything but sat silently in his bench.
All six of us came to the cafeteria. Sheetal and Tara prepared the script for the play. We distributed our dialogues. Everyone of us is very much excited except Ritwik. I can't see any excitement in his face.
Freshers Day…
We practiced very well all these days. All of us got ourselves in the dressing room. Next we should go on to the stage for the play. Sheetal is a little bit nervous. They called our name and we went on to the stage.
The characters for the play are:
Snow white – Saanvi
Prince – Ritwik
Evil Queen – Sheetal
Doc – Aarav
Grumpy – Ajay
Tara stared the narration like this –
"Once upon a time, in a far-off kingdom, a beautiful princess named Snow White was born with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony. Her stepmother, the Evil Queen, feared Snow White beauty would surpass hers.
The play went like:
Evil Queen: Mirror, mirror on the wall, Who's the fairest of them all? You say Snow White, that innocent face? No, I'll never be replaced! I'll get rid of her, come what may, and rule this kingdom, come what day!"
"The queen ordered a huntsman to kill Snow White, but he spared her life and told her to run away. Snow white stumbled upon a small cottage belonging to seven dwarfs: Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey.
Snow White meets the Dwarfs
Doc: Welcome, young one! We don't often get visitors.
Grumpy: Especially not princess.
Snow White: I'm Snow White. I've nowhere else to go.
Doc and Grumpy: You are welcome here. We'll share what little time we have.
"Meanwhile, the Evil Queen discovered Snow White's escape and disguised herself as an old hag."
Evil Queen: Ahah! Now I'll trick that naive child. This poisoned apple will do the trick. She'll never awaken, never smile, and I'll reign supreme, all the while!
Snow white meets the old hag in the forest
Evil Queen: Pretty child, take a bite. This apple's sweetness will make everything right.
Snow White: Thank you, kind old woman.
Snow White takes a bite and falls.
"A handsome Prince heard about Snow White's beauty and visited the dwarf's cottage. He fell deeply in love with Snow White, even in her sleeping state."
Prince: Beautiful maiden, who are you? Why do you sleep, with no awakening anew?
Doc: She's Snow White, under a wicked spell.
Prince: I'll break the curse, with love's true spell.
Prince kisses Snow White; she awakens
Evil Queen discovers Snow White's awakening.
Evil Queen: No! My plan foiled! You'll pay for this, you wretched fools!
"The Prince took Snow White and the Prince living happily ever after, surrounded by their friends, including the seven dwarfs."
Snow White: I've found true love, in this kingdom so fair.
Prince: And I've found my heart, with you, my dear.
The dwarfs celebrate.
Doc: Love conquers all, even evil's might.
Grumpy: And happiness, is what we've gained tonight.
"The dwarf's bid farewell to Snow White. The Evil Queen is punished. Snow White and Prince's coronated."
Everybody clapped for our performances. Even though this drama looks childish, nobody criticized us. We appreciated each other's efforts. Special thanks to Ritwik Khanna. If he would have not been in the drama, this wouldn't have happened.
All the girls are talking about Ritwik. That's not a rare thing. The tales goes on everyday. We took a lot of photos together. Tara said I am looking like a real Snow White. We waved each other goodbyes and returned to our room.
It's already night and I am too tired. I need to write my diary and sleep fast. Tomorrow is holiday and I can sleep for all day long.
Dear Diary,
It was a fantastic day today. Today I and my friends played a drama which was exceptional. Everybody praised us for our performances. When I was in the dressing room I cannot find Ritwik anywhere. When I was sleeping on the stage. He was beside of me. I slowly opened my eyes and stood looking at him. His eyes sparkled with captivating charm. He looked exactly like a Prince came from a fairy tale. I now understand why every other girl is running towards him. I said earlier that he looks like Siddharth Malhotra. Naah! He is beyond that. He has got the perfect body and great face. He is incredibly attractive. I am so splendid that I am the only girl he talks to. What made me so special to him? I don't know. Talking to him feels so refreshing. When we are on the stage, he held my waist with one hand and with other hand he held my hand. I looked into his eyes. His gaze is piercing. He held my waist for the third time. How could he be this drop dead gorgeous? I am out of words to express his beauty. We danced for some time. Never have I ever danced with a boy in my life. I never let some other boy hold my hand. I wonder how I let him hold me? Am I attracted to him? He used to call me little girl. Now he is calling me Lotus. Why can't he call me Saanvi. I want to hear him call my name. When we were with my friend gang he doesn't call me anything. If I am about to describe him, I may take this whole night. I'm just intrigued by him….
