"Mr. Gu must love you very much! It's just... he doesn't know how to express it," Su Heyi told Gu Yan, echoing what she had seen on TV. She also thought that she should be able to accompany Gu Yan, even though it seemed like they had no particular relationship.
Gu Yan tugged at Su Heyi's clothes and muttered quietly, "He is very serious, doesn't like to smile, and I don't know if he really loves me."
"How could he not love you! You are his child!" Su Heyi touched Gu Yan's hair, which was as soft and fragrant as a child's.
Gu Yan looked somewhat unhappy, "But he never says he loves me."
Su Heyi thought to herself that she should tell Mr. Gu that Gu Yan loves him deeply, and he should let Gu Yan know that his love is reciprocated.
After talking for a long time, Su Heyi suddenly asked, "Should I tell you a bedtime story? That's how it's done on TV, but I don't know any stories."
Gu Yan's eyes lit up, "I do! I haven't finished the story of the Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage last time, I can continue it today."
"Okay, okay!" Now it was Su Heyi who needed to hear a bedtime story.
Eventually, they both fell asleep without realizing it.
After they had fallen asleep, Gu Mo quietly entered Gu Yan's bedroom.
A dim bedside lamp was still on, allowing Gu Mo to see the two figures snuggled up on the bed.
It seemed as if they were meant to be that way.
Gu Mo's gaze darkened as he observed Su Heyi's innocent and harmless appearance in sleep, even more pure than usual, as if she had never been tainted by the dust of the world, so clear that one could see all her thoughts.
The cleaner she was, the more Gu Mo wanted to stain her, to see her soul marked with something that belonged to him...
After watching by the bedside for a long time, Gu Mo turned off the light and left Gu Yan's room.
The next morning, Gu Yan woke up on time. Seeing Su Heyi in his arms, his eyes curved with happiness, he even wanted to stay in bed a little longer.
Unfortunately, even though it was summer vacation, he still had his studies to complete. As the future heir of the Gu family, he had a lot to learn from now on, and time was too precious to waste.
Just as the servant came in to wake him up, Gu Yan carefully slipped out of Su Heyi's embrace, got out of bed, and resumed the cold demeanor identical to Gu Mo's. He instructed the servant, "Don't wake her up. Inform me and my father when she wakes up."
"I understand, young master."
After breakfast, Gu Yan went to the study for his lessons. Every day, corresponding teachers came to give lessons. Being born into the Gu family meant that he had a completely different childhood from other children.
He didn't see Gu Mo at mealtime, thinking his father had gone out to work again. In fact, Gu Mo was also in the study dealing with official business, deciding not to go out today.
At least not while Su Heyi was still here, he would stay in the mansion.
Su Heyi woke up when the sun was high in the sky. She rubbed her eyes and went downstairs in a daze, seeing Gu Mo sitting on the sofa.
"Mr. Gu!" She ran over happily and greeted him with a smile.
Gu Mo looked up and waved at her quite seriously, "Come here."
Su Heyi obediently walked over and stood in front of him, hands by her sides, like a primary school student about to be scolded.
Gu Mo looked down at her fair and plump feet and softened his tone a bit, "Why didn't you wear slippers when you came down?"
