Wendy's eyes fluttered open.
She felt herself moving, her body steady and supported by a strong arm.
'I'm on someone's back?'
Her mind was still hazy, but as she breathed in, a rich scent filled her senses—clean, earthy, and strangely comforting.
She took another soft breath, savoring it, feeling almost spellbound.
She blinked, trying to focus, and noticed the dark, familiar hair in front of her face.
'Grey.'
A sudden warmth spread over her as she realized it was him.
An unexpected feeling of safety settled over her, and, wanting to stay there a little longer, she closed her eyes, pretending to still be asleep.
But Grey seemed to pick up on her act as he asked, his voice low but kind:
"You awake?"
Caught off guard, Wendy replied:
"Y-yes... I'm fine."
Grey's expression softened as he slowed his pace a little:
"Do you remember what happened?"
Wendy's thoughts spun as memories resurfaced.
