Wendy's eyes widened, and she covered her mouth in shock.
"What... what is that thing?" she gasped.
Amy took a step forward and replied in a steady voice, "That's a griffin. Grey fought it here and killed it... ALONE."
She made sure to emphasize the last word, her eyes flicking pointedly toward Pius, who snorted dismissively.
"Big deal. It doesn't mean it was that strong," Pius said smugly, though his confidence didn't match the unease in his eyes as they moved past the gigantic, lifeless skeleton.
They continued, climbing another flight of stairs, only to stop short at the sight of the next floor. It was a mess of charred walls and scorched flooring.
In the middle of the room lay a massive, headless, zombie-like creature, its huge limbs sprawled awkwardly. Burn marks covered every inch of its thick, decaying skin.
Pius grinned as he spotted something:
"Found its head."
