Michael's face went slack, and he choked out, his voice breaking:
"Rachel?"
His legs felt like they would give way, his heart thundering in his chest. He could hardly believe his eyes. He had seen her get consumed by zombies.
The tension in the air was thick, but no one had time to take notice of the strange interaction between Rachel and her father. Danger loomed right in front of them, demanding their full attention.
Rachel rejoined the fight.
Nathan shoved the towering zombie backward, creating a brief moment of space between them. The monster snarled, recovering quickly and lunging forward to attack again. But Nathan dove into the fray, his body enveloped in earth, transforming him into a living tank.
