The Guardian, once an Asgardian and a member of the Guardians of the Universe, was among the ancient blue-skinned beings tasked with overseeing the emotional spectrum. However, her beliefs differed. She was convinced that even the yellow light of fear could be harnessed for good—a conviction that led to her downfall. Her attempt to wield the yellow light ended in tragedy when the fear entity, Parallax, dominated her. Consumed and possessed, the Guardian transformed into the very demon she sought to control.
Now, seeing a yellow power ring on someone else's hand rekindles a storm within Parallax: a whirlwind of rage and fear. Memories of the Guardians who rejected and doubted her flood her mind—a bitter reminder of the darkness she faced alone.
Parallax's glowing eyes fix on the yellow ring as she growls in a guttural voice. "Impossible! How can you wield a yellow power ring? I'll devour you for this!"
Kara smiles, unfazed. "Devour me? Cute. Do you think I asked for this ring? It chose me." Her tone sharpens, brimming with defiance. "And you showed up too soon if you think you can defeat me."
Her words linger in the air, but her actions speak louder. Her body begins to grow, stretching upward until she towers over Parallax at an astonishing height of 300 meters. She raises her hand and channels the power of her Green Lantern ring, conjuring a massive glowing bowl and a pair of chopsticks, mockingly pointing at Parallax's demonic form.
Momentarily stunned by her bold transformation, Parallax roars and strikes with a colossal tentacle, darkening the space around them. But Kara remains undaunted. Twirling her enormous chopsticks, she intercepts the tentacle with precision, then summons a radiant red battle axe and swings it with devastating force.
The sound of the strike reverberates, and with a single cut, the tentacle is cleanly severed. Parallax shrieks in pain, his yellow aura flickering. But the severed tentacle transforms into pure energy and reattaches to his form.
"I am pure energy, the living embodiment of fear," Parallax mocks, his voice booming with defiance. "You cannot destroy me, but I will obliterate you!"
Kara chuckles softly, her tone dripping with mockery as she clasps her hands together, as if in thought. "Obliterate me? Cute. But how about I try something new instead?" Her hands glow ominously, materializing two black energy swords, each crackling with a darkness that seems to absorb the light around them.
Even Parallax hesitates, his voice losing its usual confidence. "What... what is that?" he stammers, his tone laced with unease.
Kara smirks mischievously. "Oh, this? Just something with the power to end you." Her voice drops, turning menacing. "And you know what? I'm curious—how do you taste when roasted by the sun?"
With that, she charges at Parallax. The massive otherworldly swords slice through the space between them, each strike leaving echoes of terror. For the first time in eons, Parallax feels something he has inflicted upon countless beings: fear.
"Fool!" Parallax roars, thrashing wildly. "You can't hope to defeat me!"
Kara scoffs, her tone brimming with disdain. "I'm not here to play your little twisted games, squid-face." She vanishes at lightning speed, reappearing an instant later to deliver a decisive blow. With a single blinding slash, she severs all of Parallax's tentacles.
Parallax howls, his yellow aura dimming. His energy flickers, unstable. Worse yet, his severed limbs refuse to regenerate. He stares at Kara, realizing the truth.
Kara's voice cuts through the silence, cold and unwavering. "This is the power of the Black Lantern ring—the power of death itself. You may be the essence of fear, but against death, you're just another pathetic light waiting to be snuffed out."
Parallax recoils, his overwhelming energy dwindling further as Kara activates her White Lantern ring. The aura of fear surrounding him is absorbed, leaving him powerless and vulnerable.
"Still feeling cocky?" Kara taunts, summoning a barrage of gleaming spears with a wave of her hand. The spears strike true, pinning Parallax's tentacles. With a malicious grin, she begins dragging him toward the blazing star at the center of the system.
"Wait! Truce!" Parallax's once-authoritative voice now pleads desperately. "You can't kill me! Without me, the yellow light of fear will fade! The balance of the emotional spectrum will collapse!"
Kara shrugs, unimpressed. "Balance? Funny coming from someone who was locked away for centuries. Maybe I'd care if you weren't such a loud-mouthed pest. But hey, you make excellent solar fuel."
As Parallax's screams fade, Kara presses on toward the sun, relentless. The demon who once instilled fear across galaxies finally succumbs to his own terror, meeting his end in Kara's unyielding grasp of power.
