Chapter 126 - Chapter 127

Through these little blue beings, known as the Guardians of the Universe—who, despite their role as universal protectors, have a reputation for causing their fair share of trouble—Kara learned some surprising information.

For instance, she discovered that the First Lantern Ring, the original ring in the emotional spectrum of the universe, possesses a terrifying power that vastly exceeds all other rings. It can accomplish feats that ordinary rings cannot, including making its bearer nearly immortal. The Guardians confessed to having sealed a being called Volthoom, the First Lantern, for over ten billion years—yet they could still sense that he was alive.

This revelation led Kara to another realization: her own First Lantern Ring likely originated from a distant future. One day, she might encounter this First Lantern, perhaps defeating him and assuming his position as a new First Lantern. This would grant her an immeasurable lifespan—a surprise, even to her.

Another fascinating detail Kara learned was that each Lantern Corps has its own unique entity, or Lantern Beast, which embodies a part of their respective emotional spectrum. For instance, the Red Lantern Corps' beast, the Butcher, appears as a colossal, blood-red bison, embodying rage. Meanwhile, the Orange Lantern's beast, Ophidian, manifests as a massive, gluttonous snake, representing greed. The Green Lantern's Ion is a particularly beloved creature, resembling a glowing green shark, known for its strength and reliability.

The White Lantern's entity, known simply as the Entity, represents life itself, and those chosen by a White Lantern Ring must submit to the Entity's will. Unlike ordinary Lanterns, Kara had never felt any direct connection to these Lantern Beasts, despite wielding an original set of rings. The Guardians clarified that her rings, termed "primordial rings," were unique. While most rings rely on connections with their respective emotional spectrum's entities, hers did not. Instead, her primordial rings were directly connected to the emotional spectrums, functioning independently of the entities that usually govern these powers.

For example, her original yellow ring was directly linked to the power of fear itself, rather than its embodiment, Parallax. This link granted Kara full access to the fear spectrum's power without the need for a recharge—unlike the Green Lantern rings, which must be recharged daily. The Guardians explained that her primordial rings bypassed the need for intermediaries, existing on equal terms with the Lantern Beasts.

Still, one question nagged at Kara: "Why me? Why would these rings choose me of all people?"

This was a question that she struggled to answer. Even if her willpower attracted the green ring, she couldn't imagine why other rings would also come to her, especially since they had been sealed by the Guardians. It would be impossible to attract all of them simultaneously, right?

In terms of strength, Kara believed herself more than qualified. She had heard of a powerful figure named Krona, who had once been selected by seven Lantern Rings simultaneously. But Kara now wielded ten rings, all of which were primordial and included a First Lantern Ring. Even she found it hard to believe.

If she were less skeptical, she could perhaps save Krypton from its past destruction, sparing both her parents and those of her cousin, Kal-El. Such a power was almost too much to fathom.

The Guardians exchanged glances, seeming to share a private understanding. One of them, surprising even Kara, floated down from his high platform. For millennia, the Guardians had remained above, observing from a distance. But today, one descended to her level, breaking the norm.

"Kara, Daughter of Krypton—"

"Don't call me that," Kara interrupted, blushing slightly. She had heard this title from the various Lantern Beasts but found it awkward and would rather avoid it.

The Guardian nodded. "Kara, we believe that the reason you are simultaneously recognized by all Lantern Rings may be due to your unique place in this universe."

"Huh?" Kara tilted her head, intrigued.

The Guardian continued, "While Oa, the planet we are on, is the physical center of the universe, you yourself may be a kind of 'center' for life within it. You might be... the protagonist of this universe, in a way. This could explain why your emotions resonate so strongly with the emotional spectrum."

Kara raised an eyebrow but smirked. "The protagonist? You've got to be kidding. Everyone's the protagonist of their own story."

But the Guardian remained serious. "Though we don't know who or what it is, we can feel that you have been 'favored' by an entity or force beyond us. You may even be under some kind of... protection."

Kara pondered this, lost in thought.

The Guardian added one last detail: "If you wish to understand more, you might want to look beyond a certain boundary. When the time is right, you will understand which boundary it is."

Kara murmured to herself, "Source wall?"

The Guardian nodded solemnly.
