Chapter 123 - Chapter 122

Kara could sense Tomar-Re's sincerity; maybe he truly put in this effort to find her in the first place.

Regardless, Kara had no real interest in these Lantern rings and was ready to return them.

She had absolute confidence that, even if there were conflicts after removing the rings, her own Kryptonian power would show Oa what Kryptonians were truly capable of. However, removing the Green Lantern ring wasn't as easy as expected, nor were the red and black rings.

The Green Lantern ring was drawing on the collective willpower of the universe to resist her. And as she tried to remove the red and black rings, all of Oa trembled. Red and black energies surged to life, and the very core of the planet seemed to quake under immense force.

Green Lanterns all around Oa lifted their heads, even the Guardians themselves. The sky above was gradually painted in red and black hues, and the signature green glow of Oa was dimming, struggling against the new colors.

It was as if two monstrous forces were awakening, and the green light struggled to contain them.

If this continued, the consequences were uncertain.

"Stop her!" shouted an Oan Guardian. "If she continues, it will awaken a terrible force we have sealed for millennia, and the entire universe could be at risk."

"But letting her continue to wear the rings also presents a hidden danger," another Guardian countered.

"At least she hasn't recited the oath yet," someone reasoned, trying to calm the debate.

Yet, as Kara's Kryptonian strength clashed with the red and black rings, a strange transformation began. Her blue uniform became infused with deep red, her iconic "S" shield darkening to black. Her eyes also started to change, her usual clarity giving way to a trance-like state. She murmured words as if from a distant place, "With hot blood and a burning anger, taken from those who have fallen in vengeance; seething in hatred, it boils heart and soul, sending you down the shadowed path…" It was the Red Lantern Oath.

The red light was more than just anger; it carried with it a spirit of vengeance. Kara felt her own blood heat as if it was transforming, the power of rage coursing through her veins, aiming to replace her natural Kryptonian strength with pure red rage.

If the process completed, Kara would be bound to the red light permanently. The very essence of her blood would depend on it; removing the ring would be fatal. Just as this invasive power began to consume her, a golden radiance burst forth from her body.

Having absorbed Earth's sunlight for over twenty years, Kara unleashed the gathered power in a single, radiant burst, forcing back the universal anger contained in the red light. Even as she unconsciously began to recite the Black Lantern Oath, another power—pure white light—rushed to her aid, drawn from across the cosmos.

In her trance, Kara continued the Black Lantern Oath: "In the darkest night, no light to see, from heart and soul, the dead rise to serve, and darkness swallows all…"

The Black Lantern, symbolizing death, represented a deep and uncontrollable force. Yet as Kara voiced the final words, her body became surrounded by an all-encompassing white light.

Then, a calm voice broke through: "Daughter of Krypton, you will bring hope to the universe. You shall protect countless lives. Welcome to the White Lantern Corps."

The Guardians of Oa could barely believe it. Kara, who had just recited the oaths of the Red and Black Lantern Corps, now stood wearing a White Lantern ring, her red and black rings remaining dormant yet present on her right hand.

The Guardians, who had thought their understanding of the Lantern powers to be unshakeable, were in shock. Each ring represented a unique, often conflicting power. And yet Kara, by sheer strength of will and Kryptonian resilience, had united them.

The eldest Guardian finally spoke, his voice grave. "She has summoned the power of will, anger, death, and life. Kara Zor-El, in the name of the Guardians of the Universe, we formally invite you to join the Green Lantern Corps."

The crowd of Green Lanterns, young and old, stared in awe. None had ever witnessed such an event. Kara lifted her gaze, her steely blue eyes meeting the Guardians' intense stares. A slight, challenging smile played on her lips.

"So, when you can't defeat someone, you invite them to join you? That's convenient," she said.

"I have many questions," she added, turning serious. "Tell me everything. I want to understand what happened to my people… going back a hundred thousand years."
