Prologue
_"Loving him was a canvas of colors, vibrant and alive, yet forever unseen by his eyes."
Chapter one : The Spark
Elodie POV
I gazed at the poem I had written, the words echoing my heartache as it reminded me abit of my life:
"My heart beats for you, alone and true
But yours doesn't echo the love I have for you
In your eyes, I see a distant stare
A reflection of my love you don't share"
The pain of unrequited love still lingered, a constant reminder of my secret admiration for Daniel..... Loving someone who wouldn't love me back., someone who has never acknowledged my existence.
I had harbored these feelings since middle school, but my shyness had held me back from expressing them. Now, as we entered our senior year, I wondered if maybe, just maybe, he would finally notice me.
Hannah's voice broke the silence, her words sending a flutter through my chest as we walked down the hallway to class.
"I heard Daniel would be moving to your class this year."
"Really?" I exclaimed, trying to contain my excitement.
Hannah raised an eyebrow, her gaze piercing. "Don't tell me you still like him, Elodie."
I hesitated, my eyes darting away. "I don't, Hannah," I lied, pushing her hand away from my face, afraid she would see the truth written all over my heart.
But the spark within me refused to be extinguished. Maybe this year would be different. Maybe Daniel would finally see me, truly see me, and my heart would no longer beat alone.
"Are you sure elodie"...she asked still looking at me weirdly.
"i'm sure hannah....see you later after class"
Entering the classroom as I went in front of the class waiting to be introduced...
"Hi everyone my name is elodie, I hope we all become friends"...I said bowing my head down shyly.
As I finished my introduction, my eyes scanned the room, meeting the gazes of my new classmates. That's when I saw him - Daniel, sitting in the back corner, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat. I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I quickly looked away, trying to compose myself.
The teacher, Mrs. silva, continued with the introductions, but I couldn't focus on anything else. I could feel Daniel's eyes still on me, and I wondered if I had imagined the spark I thought I saw.
As the class progressed, I found myself stealing glances at Daniel, trying to gauge his interest. But his expression remained enigmatic, giving away nothing.
At the end of the period, Mrs. silva assigned us a group project, instructing us to form teams of four. As the class erupted into chaos, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Hey, Elodie, want to be in our group?" a friendly voice asked.
I turned to see a girl with a warm smile, and beside her, Daniel. My heart raced as I nodded, trying to play it cool.
"Sure, that sounds great," I replied, trying to sound casual despite the turmoil inside me.
As we exchanged numbers and made plans to meet up, I couldn't help but wonder if this was the start of something new, something special. Maybe, just maybe, I wasn't wrong about Daniel after all. Maybe he had notice me after all.
The rest of my classes dragged on, feeling like an eternity. My mind wandered, and I found myself stealing glances at Daniel, who seemed to grow more handsome by the minute.
"Is it just me, or does he look even more captivating today?" I whispered to myself, my eyes drifting back to him time and again.
As the minutes ticked by, I grew restless, my gaze fixed on my wristwatch. Only three minutes until lunch break. A spark of courage ignited within me. Maybe, just maybe, I could muster the nerve to invite him to lunch. But could I really? My heart raced at the prospect.
I rehearsed the invitation in my head, trying to sound casual.
"Hey Daniel, want to grab lunch together?" No, too forward.
"Daniel, mind if I join you for lunch?" Too awkward. Ugh, why was this so hard?
The bell rang, signaling lunch break. I took a deep breath and gathered my belongings, my eyes locking onto Daniel's as he stood up. Now or never. I could feel my face heat up as I approached him, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Daniel, hi," I said, trying to sound nonchalant. "Want to... uh... grab lunch together?" I finished, my voice barely above a whisper.
