Bridget spent her first day at home just reorganizing everything in her old room and the rest of her day, she just spent it chilling on the bed after ordering a large pizza for dinner.
The sunlight that was peeking through the curtains annoyed the deep-sleeping woman who grimaced her face and buried it in the closest fluffy pillow to her in a failed attempt to block the annoying sunlight, but quickly after that, she had to open her eyes because she could not fall asleep again no matter how much she tried, that was not only because of the sunlight but also because she had had enough sleep.
Bridget could not help but grin when she realized the fact that she was in her home, in her bedroom, in the same place where she spent the best years of her life.
A sigh escaped from her mouth as she quickly checked the time, it was ten in the morning, then she stood up heading to the bathroom while stripping on the way.
She left a line of her clothes that started from her bed to the bathroom door.
She took a cold shower to freshen up and walked back inside the bedroom with a towel around her waist.
Before she could put some clothes on, her phone started ringing, which is why she walked toward the nightstand and picked up the call. "Good morning, Dad."
"Bridget, where are you?" Oh, no good morning? Hudson sounded so worried, which made Bridget realize that moving back to their old house without informing her father was probably a stupid decision.
Of course, Hudson would get concerned when he did not find her in the house.
Bridget grabbed a small towel and started drying her hair after she connected her phone with some AirPods. "Dad, I told you I want to spend the summer in our old house. I spent the night in it."
She could hear a pissed-off sigh coming out of her dad's mouth. "Bridget, you should have told me that you were leaving this early. Do you have any idea how worried I was when I didn't find you in your room this morning?"
"I know, I wanted to let you know before coming here, but you were busy," Bridget answered her dad as she could not stop herself from walking to the balcony attached to her bedroom because the weather today was her favorite: sunny yet not too hot but not cold either; it was just perfect.
She could hear the sound of some movements through the phone, which meant her dad was either rushing or gathering his stuff—it might be both. "Listen to me, Bridget, I want you to go lock all the doors and windows of the house."
Bridget was about to talk and reply to her father, but her eyes caught a glimpse of Teddy running around the next-door neighbor's backyard, which brought a tiny smile to her face.
That smile quickly changed to a curious expression when she noticed Teddy's owner walking into the backyard with a little soft smile on his mouth.
Teddy's owner was dressed in a light brown cardigan with a black tank top under it and some white wide pants.
His hair was visible this time; it was not covered with a hat. His hair was light brown, but with the reflection of the sunlight, some of his tufts seemed blond.
The sunglasses were still covering half of his face, which did not help Bridget recognize the man's features, but that did not mean she did not keep watching him crouching down next to his dog, who started doing some tricks to get treats from his owner.
The aura of Teddy's owner was so strange and new to Bridget. She had never felt this curious about someone just after seeing them once or twice.
Also, the guy had this warm energy around him, maybe it was his style of clothing or the way he walked so carefully and slowly.
He looked so chill.
Bridget needed some chill friends because all of her friend groups were crazy and reckless.
It would be a good idea to introduce herself to her neighbor; she started planning on doing that later.
"Bridget, are you even listening to me?" Bridget was startled when her dad suddenly yelled at her through the phone, which pulled her out of her daze. "Yes, I am. Why do you want me to lock the doors and windows? Is it finally a zombie apocalypse?"
She joked while walking downstairs to obediently do what her father asked her to do.
She heard Hudson sighing again through the phone, which confused her. "I wish it was; I wish it were zombies, but no, this is worse. Look, I'm at the police station right now; I'll come and explain everything to you. For now, just do what I said and don't open the door to anybody. I'll call you when I arrive."
Before Bridget could even open her mouth to question her father about what in the world was going on, the latter hung up and left just the beeping sound behind.
"Why is he in the police station?" Internally wondered Bridget while locking the back and main doors, and she also made sure to lock the windows just like her father wanted.
She grabbed a bowl of cereal and added some milk with a cup of coffee before rushing to her bedroom to put some comfy clothes on, and then she immediately went back to the balcony to study Teddy's owner, but she was disappointed because the latter was nowhere to be seen in the backyard or anywhere around the house.
