Jared is always impressed by the thriving shopping district. His gaze travels from one store to another. People passed past with their baskets and grocery bags dangling from their hands. The sounds coming from their mouth filled the entire district with constant chattering, laughter, and negotiating.
"What about the previous owner? I would like to have a personal conversation" Jared said, his gaze never leaving his wanderings.
Nordy pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts. "I don't know if he has the energy to converse. As I've said, he's lain bedridden in the hospital for a year and it's hard to make an appointment, but I'll see what i can do"
Jared nodded in agreement as Nordy connected the call and waited for the other line to answer. While he was on the phone, he didn't notice Jared had already left ahead of him.
"We have the finest ware here! Get it now at a very cheap price!"
"We have a 50% sale! Line up now customer!"
"How about this one? This is a very nice gem for you. I'll give you this for a 150"
"Wow. How cheap"
Although the shopping street was full with varied noises, he didn't mind because what he heard was like music to his ears. Busy consumers at multiple stores indicate an active business and increased revenues.
So long as there are consumers, business will thrive. He might simply sit around waiting for money to flow in. He might just play around by acquiring just one business, such as Yellow St. There are no issues because management inspects buildings on a regular basis to see if any repairs are required.
The structures are in good shape due to the generosity of the former owner. He never caused any of his tenants to lose money by renting out a decrepit store. He ensures that all stores are in good condition, even if the rent is minimal. He is a devoted and considerate individual, in addition to being a businessman.
Seeing the bustling consumers around, a smile crept into his lips.
Never in his life that he would imagine owning a big business in just a snap.
Along the long queue of establishments, there is a fountain in the center of the popular street where people may relax and converse. He sat down on one of the benches that surrounded the fountain.
He felt slightly refreshed, and the rush of overwhelming freedom rapidly faded when voices behind him transmitted a message of malice and arrogance.
"Look who we have here, a thief"
It was the tone of someone he had forgotten, yet memories quickly emerged. It was Kevin. The person who framed him, along with his fellow diner coworkers, who had been driven by jealousy.
Talk about an unlucky encounter on a lucky day.
"What? Cat got your tounge?" Kevin said with a mocking tone.
"Hey, what happened to you when you got fired? Do you have any job? You look great by the way"
"Maybe he's here to shoplift?"
"No way, he looks great to be a shoplifter"
They even pointed fingers at his chest crumpling his shirt.
"Hey, i heard club male host are famous these days, maybe he's one of them"
Their eyes held a disdainful look as they threw him a disgusting glare.
"True. Look at him, he looks different from before. His outfits looks expensive, maybe he's a host with a sugar mommy"
The three began to laugh with ridicule, but Jared was unconcerned. He wanted to punch their faces, but the time was not right. He needed some time for the fruits to fully ripen. But, given the personalities of the people in front of him, the fruits will be picked until they are rotten.
How lovely it would have been if those had let loose their inner wickedness and crushed them with a single strike. What would they do if they discovered that the guy they had driven out was the proprietor of the famous shopping street? Jared could hardly wait to see their ridiculous faces.
Soon they will have the taste of their own medicine.
When Jared did not react as they had hoped, the three stopped laughing and clicked their tongues in disappointment, raising their brows at him with contemptuous and furious expressions.
"Tss! You're no fun, what a coward"
"Tsk! Why don't you visit the diner, we missed you"
"Hahaha! Don't make him cry"
They expected Jared to fight back by saying things, but instead of making any expressions or talking back, he smiled and nodded at them to respond.
"Sure, I'll come"
He stood up and looked at the astonished expressions of the foolish scheming people. "I'll make sure to come"
His smile vanished as soon as he turned his back on them, leaving the three with surprised facial expressions.
"Fools" he mumbled and continued walking the long path.
When he reached the extended street on the other side of the road, the heavy sensation of hatred faded quickly. The distinctive yellow-colored road and congested area are unlike any others.
Maybe the owner enjoyed the story about the yellow brick road and constructed it like one from the story. It is unusual and fascinating in the eyes.
Krriinngg!
Nordy Calling!
"Hello"
"Thank god. You suddenly dissapear on me. Were you still here?"
He stopped at a stall and bought a fruit drink before continuing to stroll along the straight path.
"Yes. So? How is it?"
"I already scheduled for the day after tomorrow. I could drive you to the hospital"
"Sure, that would nice, thank you"
"Of course. It's for future cooperations. I hope to be in-need of your assistance---ahem!"
Jared chuckled at how direct Nordy with his words.
"Should i come and get you?"
"No, it's fine. I want to walk before going home. You go ahead, thank you for your time"
"I see. Okay"
He hung up and sipped his drink, but someone bumped into him, splashing the drink on his shirt.
Talk about unlucky.
"Oh my gosh---don't you have eyes?"
When he heard a woman's disdainful voice, his brows furrowed. She was dressed in a floral dress and wore sunglasses and a mask over her face.
"Gosh! My dress! Eyes are placed on the face so you can see what's in front of you. What's the use of your eyes! Gosh!"
Compared to the woman's dress with a few drops of stains on it, the splattered stain left a nasty mark on his shirt, so why is she making scandalous remarks?
'womens are really a pain in the head'
"I'm sorry, but can you not make any noise? Aside from me, talking on the phone, you, with a sunglasses and a mask couldn't even see what's in front of you, are you blaming me now? Let's say that i didn't see what's in front of me, how about you? At least your eyes could see me walking. Unless your eyes are busy wandering around or are you blind"
This was by far the first time he confronted a woman's disparaging remarks.
Perhaps he couldn't stand the fact that problematic people kept coming on around him.
He didn't mean to respond negatively but he just lost it.
While he was wiping his shirt with his brows furrowed, the woman's eyes swiftly changed while staring at the person in front of her.
She never encountered someone with a perfect face and body even in the company she's working.
Like other people who encountered Jared, the woman was no different from them, admiring him to a certain perfection.
"I'm sorry, so try not to make a scandal" his remark was quite heavy but he couldn't contain the dissapointment.
The woman's eyes darted on his stained shirt. Just a moment ago, she was furious. She just got herself a day-off but her manager had caught a cold and no one was to accompany her outside to venture freely. She was turned down by some stores because of her appearance. Who wouldn't, with a hat, sunglasses and mask, people will think that she was a shoplifter or a scammer.
It's not like she's ugly or what, but her face was mostly seen on tv so she has to keep her face hidden. But when she tried to purchase jewelry and refused to show her face, the store staff were convinced that she was a fraud. So to avoid making a scandal and plastered her face on a news gossip, she run out and that's where she stumbled upon Jared.
She didn't mean to, but she just had a bad day.
At least Jared was not the only one with an unlucky day.
"U-uhm...s-sorry. I didn't mean to. I was running away from someone"
Jared sighed and nod. "Nevermind, if we're done, i have to leave---"
The woman held his arm when Jared attempted to leave.
"Wait! Let me buy you a clothes first. I'm sorry for bumping into you"
Because of having a bad day, Jared agreed. They entered a clothing store. He grabbed a white shirt and changed, then came out after. The woman took out his wallet but Jared immediately handed a 1,000 paper bill on the counter.
The two women behind the counter and the woman he bumped into were surprised at the sudden appearance of the man.
"Keep the changes" He then turned his back and left.
The woman from earlier rushed out to catch up to Jared who left without even looking at her.
Who cares if she finds herself annoying, but with a perfect man incomparable to male celebrities she coupled, Jared is by far, the most perfect for the play she will sign.
'the perfect man at the perfect time'
