The sun is shining today, and Momma seems a lot cheerful. It's because she can enjoy the day with her boyfriends and girlfriends when it's warm outside. I hate warm days. But going to school seems enjoyable as she won't be busy nagging me all day today.
There's a few students in the classroom today. Others are enjoying the day with their family, most likely. It seems like the people I see here are all alone on the inside, just like me.
"Sup, Tari?" asks Siya, jumping in front of me.
"Give me the notes of the last chemistry class," I tell her while sitting on my iconic desk.
"But why did you leave without telling me anything?"
"I wasn't just feeling fine, okay? Stop acting like momma."
Siya gets a little bit upset, I see. But I'm also very tired.
"Didn't you see the new guy?" Siya asks.
"What're you talking about?" I narrow my eyes.
"Come on, you saw him yesterday. You looked at him as if he were a ghost," Siya laughs. "So you have crushes on ghosts nowadays?" she is laughing like a maniac now.
"You're creeping me out, Siya. Since when did I have a crush on him?"
Siya stops laughing. She keeps her hand on mine and says, "I would be really glad if you did have a crush on him, but he's a gone case. I heard he was in the rehab."
My heart stops beating for a second. "Rehab? Why?"
"Dunno. I didn't have enough time to investigate. Wanna do it together?" She looks at me with her glowing pair of eyes. I don't know why, but it gives me a shiver. I look away.
The teacher comes inside the classroom. I try to concentrate on the lecture. Though history is my favorite subject, my own history isn't letting me pay attention now.
The bell rings. Siya says she is going to the restroom. "Do you want to come? You look stressed."
"No, I'm fine."
"So you're gonna sit here? Call me if you want to grab something to eat together."
I nod. She leaves. Then I head to the college library. From behind, I see someone is sitting on my regular seat. It's him.
"Did you develop this reading habit at rehab?" I ask from his behind.
He flinches and looks back.
"Yeah, didn't have many things to do. You know."
"Why weren't you in the class? Did you wake up late?"
"I went to somewhere else in the morning."
"So you didn't just drink all the night and wake up late in the morning?"
He gets a bit confused and asks smilingly,"What're you talking about?"
"Is that your new friend?" Nolan asked from behind.
"Oh you startled me Nolan!" I shout at Nolan.
"Sorry! I didn't you were so involved in the conversation. I'll see you later then?"
"No, I'm coming with you," I say.
I leave the Library holding Nolans hand. I don't look behind this time. I don't wait for him to call me. I don't expect anything silly. But I know that Parth is looking at me, attempting to make sense of the situation.
No, Tarish, you are not that rude- I say it in my mind. Stop being obsessed with your past. Be different from the person you have always despised.
