A week passed by, and I wanted to see my brother immediately, but I was ashamed to face him at the same time. I had called my sister and told her to talk to our mother and father immediately. I wanted them to talk to Mr. Charpil, allowing me to go and see my brother.
"Why did you have to go through all that? Your brother,my brother-in-law, is coming back to Muni anyway; it seems people don't want to be treated by a deaf doctor," Henry suddenly said as we were having breakfast. It seems like Henry had been informed by his father.
"Don't call him your brother-in-law!" I angrily said as I put down my fork.
"Oh? What should I call him then?" Henry asked as he drank his tea. I knew I couldn't reason with such a madman, so I simply stood up to leave.
"Sit down; you aren't allowed to leave this table until I am done eating," Henry slowly said.
I sat back down. I knew that when Henry's voice lowered to that level, he would do something mental.
Henry drank tea and finished his omelette. He then wiped his mouth. Demilia immediately told the kitchen staff to take away the utensils.
"Take care of Klain and Massey Shiba. Tomorrow, I will personally take you to see your brother-in-law," Henry said as he stood up and walked in my direction. I immediately flinched as he raised his hand and held my cheek.
"You are suddenly growing on me, Shiba. You give me a headache, but I am starting to love it. What to do?" Henry said as he suddenly kissed me before going out.
I saw some employees whispering as they blushed while going to their work posts. I immediately knew that Henry was acting for this audience right now.
I had asked for a divorce, but Henry took my words as air. I knew that I had become a prisoner from that day; my smartphone was taken, and only a home phone was left for communication, whereby all calls were monitored.
I immediately headed upstairs and quickly brushed my teeth, harshly scrubbing my mouth. I hated Henry's touch.
The next day, I followed Henry to a new house that my brother had built in Muni. He had saved money for a very long time to build it. He sent me pictures of its completion when I still had the smartphone. He planned to move his wife in and settle down in Muni for good. Unfortunately, this couldn't happen anytime soon. I sadly looked outside the car window.
"Why are you acting like we are heading for a burial? Cheer up; your brother-in-law shouldn't see you sad," Henry said.
I simply ignored him. I had no way to get rid of him; I didn't have the means to do so even if I tried. A simple divorce also couldn't be possible; I had to grow thick skin around him.
We finally reached our destination. My brother's house was a simple bungalow; however, the compound was well thought out. The entire atmosphere was just like him: welcoming and calm.
"Hm? Not bad for a doctor. The location is good. I heard he is planning to marry?" Henry asked as he chuckled.
I didn't wait for the driver to open the car door for me; I immediately opened it and hurriedly walked away from him. I couldn't bear to stay in the same space as him for a second.
"Shiba!" Sima called as she came out of the house.
"Sima," I called back as I immediately hugged her.
"Mr. Henry," Sima addressed Henry, who had followed.
"Just call me Henry, sister-in-law. Shiba has been worried about Ady. If it weren't for the twins, she would have come sooner," Henry elaborated.
"Please come in," Sima said.
We followed her inside. The entire house's furniture was in place and once again equally matched my brother's temperament.
Sima pointed with her chin to the outside balcony. My brother was putting on his reading glasses, his broad and tall back facing us as he sat on a chair reading a book.
"It's such a pity," I heard Henry sigh as he sat beside me. I gritted my teeth in anger and resentment.
I slowly and guiltily walked in his direction. I intentionally made a sound as I passed by the chair near the balcony just to confirm if what was said was true, but I was greatly disappointed when my brother didn't turn around to acknowledge my presence.
"Brother!" I called as I now stood in front of him. I saw Ady slightly pause his reading, his eyes on my shoes before turning to face me. His eyes shone as he smiled brightly at me.
"Shiba!" he called, but his words didn't seem to be coordinated; however, I could clearly understand him.
I felt my eyes sting as tears threatened to fall. I then saw my brother panic as he typed on his phone before showing me the text.
"Don't cry; I am fine and healthy. It's just that my ears had a problem," Ady's text said.
Ady then turned and saw Henry. He gently smiled as he nodded at him before typing away again on his phone and showing him.
"Please forgive my rudeness. I wasn't able to welcome you properly. Also, for talking about your employee," the text read.
I wanted to scream and tell Ady that the lunatic who had done this to him was none other than the person he was apologizing to!
Henry shook his head. "It's okay, not a problem. Oh! Sorry, you can't hear; let me type," he said as he picked up his phone to type. Sima subtly looked at him before looking away.
I immediately held my brother's hand as I led him away from Henry's presence. Ady allowed me to lead him away.
I snatched Ady's phone from his hand as I typed, "How did this happen?" I showed him the words.
Ady was hesitant but then typed, "Don't worry about it; it's already a gone case."
From his text, I confirmed that someone really did indeed do this to him! I angrily glared at him for lying, and Ady avoided my eyes. I could only helplessly sigh; I was the root cause of everything. If only I hadn't married Henry, this wouldn't have happened.
"That woman, was she the one you were planning on marrying?" I typed to Ady.
Ady shook his head in acknowledgment, smiling as he wrote to me, "My deafness was a blessing in disguise; I was able to see her true colors," the text read.
"She should thank God that I wasn't able to meet her. If I had seen her face, I would have peeled it off!" I typed as I showed Ady.
Ady laughed in amusement as he led me toward the dining table.
We ate together in a harmonious atmosphere. Apart from Henry, who always reminded me why my brother was the way he was, everything was great.
I wanted to have an in-depth chat with Ady, but Henry said he had an important meeting. I wanted to tell him to go ahead, but he just smiled and said that the twins couldn't be left alone for long. My sister and brother also urged me to go.
I had no option but to follow Henry back. I knew that he didn't want me to reveal anything to Ady or Sima; that was the real reason he wanted me to follow him!
