I was immediately led to the hospital, and Pearl personally escorted me there.
When the doctors who examined me saw my situation, they showed expressions of astonishment but then later looked away as though they hadn't noticed, proceeding with the examination. I guess they worked for the Charpils too. Who in Muni didn't? How could I expose Henry?
I immediately thought about the Muni police station. Although the Charpils would have connections there, the entire police department couldn't be working for them, could it?
An idea came to mind: I would stealthily escape from here and head toward the police station! I had the videos; I would openly make all the police officers watch them! Even if those connections were inside, the truth wouldn't be hidden!
The doctors finished their check-ups and explained some things to Pearl. Pearl nodded in understanding.
"Shiba, you will be put on a medical drip for about one hour, then we shall go back home," Pearl commented. I immediately nodded in understanding.
Pearl sighed as she pitifully looked at me before sitting on a nearby couch. I wanted to find a way to leave, but with Pearl keeping watch, that might seem difficult.
Some minutes passed, and Pearl didn't leave. I was becoming frustrated! Time was passing by; I didn't want to return to that house.
"Pearl, could you please get me some coffee?" I weakly asked.
"It's not good to drink coffee in your situation. Wait for some minutes; your drip is almost done. You can eat anything you want at home," Pearl said.
I guess God was working in my favor at this very moment as Pearl received a phone call from someone requiring her to step out for a bit.
I quickly removed the needle connected to the cannula and threw on a nearby hospital gown that one of the doctors had left behind.
I quickly used the door that the doctors from before had used; they didn't pass through the main door but another one.
I hurriedly removed the coat when I reached the hospital entrance and threw it in the nearby trash can. I then pretended to be a patient as I limped off the hospital grounds.
Some of my bandages simply couldn't hide my wounds, as blood had started seeping into them.
It was at night; my state may have alarmed some people as they looked at me worriedly while I passed by them, but I simply didn't pay them any mind.
I immediately touched behind my back and felt the secret phone that I had hidden in my bra. I removed it and checked its condition; thankfully, it hadn't been harmed!
I hailed a taxi and headed to the nearest police station. I paid via my phone and immediately went in.
I attracted the attention of all the police officers around due to my state; my entire face was completely wrapped up, and I cut a very sorry figure.
"Hello, please have a seat. Let me call someone to assist you," a very polite police officer said as he led me to the nearby seats.
"I don't want you to call anyone. I also don't trust the police. I came here today because I hoped that there would at least be one police officer who would ensure that justice is served no matter what!" I confidently said as I stood up from the chair with the support of a nearby table.
Most police officers stopped what they were doing and turned to face me.
"Madam, please don't imply that we are not trustworthy. We work to serve and protect! No one is above the law! Quickly tell us what is wrong now," I heard a loud voice say, coming from a nearby office.
"Chief!" all the police officers shouted.
"I want everyone in this room to watch the videos I have. Every one of you today will let me know if a lowly Muni civilian has rights or not," I said as I gave my phone to the police officer who gave me a seat.
The police officer awkwardly received the phone as he looked at the police chief.
"What? Quickly connect the projection; we are the Muni police station!" the chief commanded.
The projection was therefore connected, and the videos played. There was silence in the room after all the revelations.
When I turned around, the police chief was no longer standing where he had previously been. I immediately became suspicious!
"So? What do you all think? That is Zire in the video, one of Muni's richest hires, and the other is Henry Charpil. Will you ensure justice, or will you submit to power?" I immediately asked the surrounding officers, who stood in shock, bewildered and anxious.
"Oh, another case I want to file: attempted murder and assault by my husband, Henry Charpil. What you are seeing right now was his work," I added. There was an uproar among the police officers.
"Impossible!" I immediately heard a policewoman say in astonishment.
"I thought so; the police are also just like puppets," I said as I immediately rushed to leave. I couldn't wait for Henry to find me here!
"Madam! Please wait a moment; let's first receive your statement!" the police chief, who had returned from God knows where, said.
"Do you really want to receive my statement?" I intently looked at him as I asked. If he was working with the rich, wasn't Muni doomed?
"Yes, yes, of course. Come and sit back down. Also, give us the videos; we want to clearly analyze them. Are those the originals?" the chief asked as he walked towards me.
I immediately sneered at his words. He was really working with either Zire or Charpil! Why did he want to know where the original videos were?
I dashed out of the police station as I ran with a limp.
"Everyone! Go get her! She might not be mentally stable!" I heard the police chief give an order from afar.
My heart was racing, and my blood boiled. So, a lowlife in Muni wasn't worth a second thought? So, the rich could actually get away with anything? Tanti's life was really not worth a damn to these people!
I thought helplessly as I ran on. I didn't know what to do next; I really tried.
I heard police sirens from a distance and knew that they had indeed followed their chief's orders. I ran to the opposite building and hid in the nearby alley.
I immediately typed to my brother that if this was the last time I was alive, he wouldn't have to wonder who did it; Tanti could maybe get justice later on.
"Where did she go? A police chief like you can't even catch a girl?" I heard a voice that I knew very well: Henry!
My body involuntarily shuddered, and I knocked over a nearby empty bottle on the ground.
"Over there, Shibaaa! So, you had gone to get those videos? Come on out; I might actually put this behind us," I heard Henry chuckle as he said footsteps rushing to my direction.
I immediately ran towards the end of the alley where I could see cars passing by.
"Shit! Shiba! Don't make me do something you don't want to see! Stop right now!" Henry commanded. I could feel the anger and anxiety in his words.
I slowly chuckled in amazement. So Henry could also get anxious? What a joke.
I emerged from the alley and saw Henry together with the police chief in the distance.
I immediately ran on; there were people here, and Henry and the police could think twice about doing anything to me!
This was a bridge that was always busy; cars, motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles frequented this area.
"Mom, look," I heard a child's voice cry as the child pointed in my direction. I then saw the mother quickly pull the child away as they hurriedly walked off.
"Help! Those lunatics are out to get me!" I suddenly screamed.
"Shiba!" I suddenly heard Henry's voice call from afar. Some people paused their activities, and some picked up their phones to record after seeing Henry.
"Wife, please come back home! The children will be sad. I will make sure to get you all the help you need, please," Henry called as he slowly walked towards me.
"I knew that woman wasn't mentally stable. Look, she is even putting on a hospital gown," I heard whispers in the crowd say.
"What can't you people see? I am not crazy! Henry is a lying, manipulating psychopath! He is a murderer and an abuser!" I cried. Different people looked at me with disbelief. I helplessly looked at them; it wasn't their fault; the media had painted Henry in a way that no one could believe my words.
"Okay, Shiba, I am a murderer. I am whatever you call me. Please don't harm yourself anymore. Come home with me; I will personally take care of you," Henry said as the distance between us narrowed.
I sneered at him. "You are worse than the devil himself, Henry. Now that I think about it, what kind of twisted, sick person are you?" I rhetorically asked.
I immediately passed through the bridge handles as I stepped on the edge of the rails.
There was great uproar from the surrounding people; some men immediately left their cars and attempted to run towards me.
"Police chief! Quickly save my wife! Shiba, look, I have stepped away; I won't come close, okay? Come back! All of you, don't approach my wife; she might actually jump if you try to forcefully stop her!" Henry shouted.
I calmly and intently looked at Henry's 'worried' look. "Henry, did you really once love? I want to see what you are like when you love someone. Do you actually love Lilly?" I asked.
"Is it about Lilly? Okay, I will not marry her. Look, I will immediately make a call right now; I will have her sent back abroad, okay?" Henry once again acted. I knew that there was no talking to him.
"Is she jealous? Just because her husband married a second wife! Such women are unbearable! Just a headache!" I heard people condemn.
In my second life, I really never want to be born in Muni. I thought as I looked at the spectating crowd.
"Take very good care of Massey and Klain, that's my very last request," I said.
"Shiba!" Henry shouted in 'disbelief'.
"You should really have been an actor, just like that TV host suggested; that's what suits you the best," I said. I saw Henry's lips twitch as he bore a frustrated look before I let go. Screams immediately penetrated my ears, and police car sirens were heard.
"She jumped! She really jumped!" I heard a loud voice from the crowd say.
I chose to leave this world on my own terms; I refused to die by Henry's filthy hands. I was finally going to meet Tanti. I hoped that my family wouldn't be sad.
The water welcomed me with open arms. I didn't know how to swim, so I knew what awaited me.
