Plum blossom smiled toward drifting snowflake,
whose smile was sunshine melted frozen lake,
and smiled toward sunrise red-stained mountain,
whose smile was daylight unmasked snow curtain.
Petal of plum fluttered down amber lake,
from branch to where blade frog chanted with drake,
and drifted like boat sailed with rippling tune,
from pond to where cloud set westering sun.
You were plum blossom red-stained snow like bride,
who trod on beach as lightly as pale tide,
who sprinkled lovesickness of plum petal,
who stood on snow buried love long as coal.
I was snow buried plum petal inside,
till sunshine melted snow to stream with tide.
