Some flowers came early in drifting snow,
some in sunshine, some in willow shadow,
some in green amber lake, some in black bog,
some smiled in lawn, some hid in dawn gauze fog.
Plum blossom filled plum branches at crystal dew,
sunflower kissed sunshine, dandelion drew,
lily rippled water, not stained bog mud,
rose smiled, daisy hid, each bloom once was bud.
You were stronger than plum blossom in snow,
of more passion than flowers in meadow,
more innocent than pale water lily,
of more delight than flowers of beauty.
You were angel passed through Scarborough fair,
nobody in town could ever compare.
