Yellowish stars filled celestial night sky,
shining charming beauty in mid-July,
under night sky there shined red city light,
above city there fell rosy starlight.
Yellow firefly held lamp around lily,
admiring lily, world's fairest beauty,
on silent lake there wind rolled by green leaves,
in lively lake there swam fish without grieves.
White lily born in mud in the bottom,
blooming through clean water into blossom,
perhaps lily that wore on fairest crown,
too endured the great bitterness deep down.
I stood up late for feet rooting by lake,
eyes admiring lily, but would not take.
