In the following days, Lin Mian once again immersed herself in busy academic work. Time passed quickly, and her life returned to its previous calm state, so much so that she even began to think that the ridiculous things that had happened before were just a dream. Before she knew it, it was time for her internship.
During this period, Song Zeyuan ran into Lin Mian several times, but his attitude had become much more restrained. Apart from a few teasing remarks, he didn't dare to make any physical advances. It seemed that the deterrence of his little uncle was quite effective.
Lin Mian had been looking for a place to live these days. With the start of her internship and the approaching summer vacation, the school dormitory would be closed, so she needed to find a place to live on her own. She had originally planned to share a place with Mu Tao, but Mu Tao had established a relationship with her ambiguous crush and they had become a couple, living together intimately. Lin Mian didn't want to disturb them, so she had to look for a place on her own.
There was a demolished community near the school, looking somewhat old and rundown, with many rental houses inside. Due to its cheap prices, many recent graduates lived there. After half a day of searching, Lin Mian found a small single room - a simple one-room, one-bathroom unit. Although it was a bit cramped and difficult to move around in, she was still very happy because it was her first truly independent small room.
After paying the rent and deposit, she moved in with her luggage that evening and did some simple cleaning before lying down on the bed. Suddenly, her phone rang.Lin Mian sat up in bed and looked at the flashing name on the screen, sitting up straight. It was a call from Qin Li!
"Hello, Teacher Qin..." Lin Mian answered the phone.
On the other end, Qin Li's voice came through gently, "Lin Mian, I heard you moved out today, not living on campus anymore?"
"Yes, Teacher Qin, I found a small apartment for convenience in the future while working," Lin Mian replied truthfully.
Due to her internship arrangement made by Qin Li a month ago, she had been in contact with him more often, mainly preparing for the internship.
"Well, I have a project starting tomorrow, so you can come to work from tomorrow. I'll have someone handle your new employee paperwork," Qin Li arranged straightforwardly.
"Okay, thank you Teacher Qin, I will report for duty on time tomorrow!" Lin Mian replied repeatedly.
After hanging up the phone, she rolled around on the bed with excitement in her heart. Qin Li's company was a renowned architectural design group in the city. If she could get in smoothly, her future prospects would be limitless. Perhaps in the future, there would be landmark buildings in the northern city designed by her.Lin Mian thought hopefully as she gradually drifted off to sleep.
The next day, Lin Mian woke up early and took the subway to the Qin Group. Due to it being her first day at work, she was a bit nervous. She applied a light makeup in the morning and even skipped breakfast. The onboarding process went smoothly, with a front desk colleague showing her around the company premises and then assigning her a workstation.
"Miss Lin, this is your workspace. Your immediate supervisor is Mr. Qin, and he will personally show you around. Just wait here for a moment," the colleague said.
Lin Mian nodded and politely thanked her.
"Not a problem. Mr. Qin will be here shortly. Take some time to familiarize yourself with the surroundings," the colleague replied before leaving.
Sitting at her workstation, Lin Mian glanced around. There were few people on this floor, with most workstations unoccupied. Next to her was Mr. Qin's office, currently closed with no one inside. She felt like she was in more of an assistant role. Being able to work as Mr. Qin's assistant was a stroke of luck.
Before long, Mr. Qin arrived. He was dressed in a light grey casual outfit, with one hand in his pocket and a smile on his face, looking relaxed and carefree.
"Morning, Mian," he greeted.
Lin Mian immediately stood up and said, "Good morning, Mr. Qin."
"Don't be so formal. You are my student, so feel free to be more casual," Mr. Qin said with a smile.
Lin Mian paused for a moment, then quickly replied, "Okay, Mr. Qin."
Mr. Qin gestured towards his office. "Come in with me for a moment."
Lin Mian followed Mr. Qin into his office, which was spacious and brightly lit. It was elegantly decorated with a few landscape paintings on the wall and neatly arranged bookshelves filled with various books.
"Have a seat. Don't be nervous," Mr. Qin said, indicating for Lin Mian to sit on the sofa.
"Today, I will familiarize you with the company's situation and your job responsibilities," Mr. Qin continued, as they settled into the conversation.
Throughout the day, Mr. Qin introduced Lin Mian to different departments, allowing her to meet many colleagues and understand the company's operational model and development strategy. She was filled with anticipation for her internship and was delighted to have the opportunity to learn and grow within such a professional team.
Returning to her workstation, Lin Mian felt excited. She couldn't wait to start her internship, eager to immerse herself in this new work environment and showcase her value.
She sat quietly at her workstation, her mind racing with thoughts, full of hope and anticipation for the future.
This was a new beginning, a start filled with possibilities."Have you completed all the onboarding procedures?" Qin Li asked.
Lin Mian nodded, "Yes, everything is done."
"Great, come with me for a bit. We have a design project today, and I'll take you with me to get some hands-on experience," Qin Li said, gesturing for her to follow him.
Excited and pleased to be part of a project on her first day of the internship, Lin Mian eagerly followed Qin Li.
Thirty minutes later, Qin Li's car stopped in front of the Beicheng Hospital.
Looking at the familiar building, Lin Mian felt her heartbeat quicken inexplicably.
This hospital...
"Mian, come on," Qin Li had already gotten out of the car. Lin Mian snapped back to reality, quickly pushing open the car door and following him.
Qin Li walked confidently, explaining as they went, "Our current project is responsible for the renovation of this hospital's architecture and interior design. So, I'm taking you here to get an idea first, and later on, you will be accompanying the designers for measurements."
Lin Mian nodded earnestly, "I'll remember that."
She followed Qin Li around the hospital, taking in all the details of the interior design.
Finally, they arrived at the Internal Medicine building. Lin Mian was so engrossed in observing the surroundings that she unconsciously walked into a corridor. As she passed by a staircase, she raised her hand to push the door and peek inside. The next moment, she was unexpectedly met with a pair of cold and deep eyes. It was... him? Lin Mian's heart stopped abruptly!
