Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Repercussions of the Leak

The following morning, Aman's phone buzzed non-stop with notifications. Social media was ablaze with news about Mahesh Rana's financial scandal. Overnight, the industry had been shaken by the fallout, and everyone was talking about it. Reporters were digging deeper, and Mahesh's allies were beginning to distance themselves.

Aman sat in his office, sipping his tea, watching the news unfold on the screen before him. The sense of accomplishment was satisfying, but he knew it was premature to let his guard down. The leak had been successful, but the true fallout would depend on Rajeev's next move.

A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. It was Riya, the star of his film, looking more anxious than usual. She had her phone in her hand, scrolling through the same news Aman had been watching.

"Aman, is it true? About Mahesh Rana?" she asked, stepping into the office, her eyes wide with concern.

Aman leaned back in his chair, his expression calm. "It seems like it. The media is all over it, and from what I've heard, it's only going to get worse for him."

Riya bit her lip, pacing the room. "But what does this mean for us? For the production? I've heard whispers that Rajeev is involved. Is this going to affect the film?"

Aman gestured for her to sit down. "We're going to be fine, Riya. The project is solid, and we have the backing we need. Rajeev may be scrambling to cover his tracks, but we're far enough removed from the situation that it won't affect us directly."

Riya sat down but didn't look reassured. "I just… I've worked so hard to get here. If this all falls apart now..."

Aman gave her a reassuring smile. "Trust me, it won't. I've taken precautions to protect the production. Focus on your role, and leave the rest to me."

Riya nodded slowly, her tension easing slightly. "I trust you, Aman. I really do. But this industry… it can be so unpredictable."

He knew she was right. One wrong move could unravel everything, and they were all walking on a tightrope. But that was part of the game. The key was not just surviving the chaos but thriving in it.

Later that afternoon, Nisha walked into Aman's office with an air of quiet triumph. She threw a file on his desk and crossed her arms, a smirk playing on her lips.

"It's done," she announced. "Rajeev is in full damage control mode. He's scrambling to find new investors. Mahesh's withdrawal has hit him harder than we expected."

Aman picked up the file and thumbed through it. It was full of reports detailing Rajeev's frantic attempts to salvage his project, reaching out to anyone and everyone with money to spare. But with Mahesh's name tarnished, many potential backers were now wary of getting involved with Rajeev.

"This is good news," Aman said, nodding appreciatively. "But Rajeev isn't finished. He's going to come back stronger, and we need to be ready."

Nisha raised an eyebrow. "You really think he has anything left after this?"

Aman leaned back in his chair, eyes sharp with experience. "Men like Rajeev don't go down without a fight. He's too cunning to just roll over. He'll regroup, and when he does, we need to have a counter ready."

Nisha tapped her fingers on the desk, thoughtful. "Alright. I'll keep an eye on his movements. We need to make sure he doesn't find any new allies."

"Good," Aman said. "Let's stay two steps ahead."

As the day turned into evening, Aman found himself alone in his office, the shadows growing longer. The tension of the past few days weighed on him, but beneath it all, there was a strange sense of exhilaration. The game was getting more dangerous, but that's what made it worth playing.

His phone buzzed again. This time it was a message from Arjun, his lead actor.

"Hey, Aman. I've been hearing rumors. Should I be worried about the project?"

Aman sighed. He had expected these kinds of questions to start rolling in. With the industry abuzz with the scandal, people were naturally anxious. He quickly typed a reply.

"No need to worry, Arjun. Everything's under control. Focus on your role, and let me handle the rest."

It wasn't the first time he'd had to reassure his team, and it wouldn't be the last. But it was his job to keep the ship steady, no matter how stormy the seas became.

As he sat back in his chair, he thought about the long road ahead. The film was only part of the picture now. The battle with Rajeev was becoming more personal with each passing day. Aman wasn't just fighting for his career; he was fighting to expose the rot beneath the surface of the industry.

---

Late into the night, Aman's phone rang again, the sound cutting through the quiet. It was an unknown number.

"Hello?"

A familiar voice, cold and calculating, responded. "You're making a lot of enemies, Aman."

It was Rajeev.

Aman's jaw tightened, but he kept his voice steady. "Is that a threat, Rajeev?"

Rajeev chuckled darkly. "Just a friendly reminder. You've made your move, and it was impressive. But don't get too comfortable. The game isn't over."

Aman leaned forward, his grip tightening on the phone. "I'm counting on it."

Rajeev's voice dropped to a sinister tone. "You've made things personal, and I never forget personal slights. Watch your back, Aman. You've started something you won't be able to finish."

The line went dead.

Aman lowered the phone slowly, his heart pounding. Rajeev wasn't bluffing. This was far from over.

But as the night deepened, so did Aman's resolve. If Rajeev wanted a fight, he was more than ready to give him one.
