Chapter 7 - Trial V

Lana glanced at the token and replied, "I've already changed my class."

"So, what else can you offer?" she asked again, while Millie had long since run away, her head now peeking out from behind the wall as she silently watched them.

"I know you've already changed your class, but this is an Epic Class Change Token. It can upgrade your current class to Epic rank," Leon said, looking straight at her.

Lana's eyes narrowed as she studied him. Then, she touched the token, and information appeared in front of her eyes. Her expression changed, eyes widening as she confirmed the truth. "Is this real?" she asked.

"Of course it is," Leon said, picking up the token. He took her hand and gave it to her. "Use this, and help me," he added, meeting her gaze.

Lana nodded as she looked back at him. Class change tokens were rare, and most commonly found for Common and Unommon classes. Even rarer ones, like this Rare token, were incredibly hard to come by—so, now she is sure that Leon is not from her enemy side. If he really came from the Brian side, there was no way he would have given her an Epic Class Change Token, as it could easily change the tide of battle. The thought left her hopeful.

[Host received Hidden Class: Epic Class Change Token] Cherry's voice echoed as Lana accepted the token.

"Shouldn't it be Legendary after 25 times the increase in quality?" Leon asked mentally.

[Legendary classes are 100 times more powerful than Epic. With your current multiplier of 25, you couldn't have received it yet,] Cherry replied, and Leon nodded in understanding.

"Thank you," Lana whispered, falling to her knees as tears streamed down her face. She clutched the Class Change Token tightly, finally seeing a path to avenging her parents and killing Bran.

Leon watched her, his heart heavy with sympathy, as Millie rushed to hug Lana. He glanced at the hidden class change token in his inventory, pulling it out and offering it to Millie. "Here, this one's for you," he said with a gentle smile. Millie looked at the token curiously, while Lana, still crying and sobbing, didn't notice the interaction.

Suddenly, a notification appeared in Leon's vision.

[Host received Legendary Class Change Token... Error]

[Bug detected] Cherry, who had been perched on Leon's shoulder, chimed in.

Leon sighed. "I guess I can't use this loophole," he thought, already contemplating how to get the hidden Epic Class Change Token back from Millie.

[Bug fixed]

[As compensation, host will receive a Mystery Box.]

"Hmm," Leon paused, hearing Cherry.

"What is it?" he asked, puzzled.

[It's compensation for the bug,] Cherry replied.

"I don't need compensation. Just give me my bug back," Leon muttered inwardly but eventually sighed. "Thank you," he said aloud, then urged Cherry to open the box, curious about what he would receive.

[Host opened the Mystery Box]

[Host received:

??? Class Change Token

??? Ability

??? Equipment]

Leon's eyes widened as he stared at the series of unknown rewards. He wasn't unfamiliar with the concept of unknown rewards — they were the most sought-after treasures, whispered about in hushed tones across the land. Rumors suggested that big clans had secret stashes of these mysterious items, but no one truly knew if it was fact or fiction.

The reason everyone desired unknown rewards wasn't because they were guaranteed to be of the highest rank, like mythical or legendary, but because they provided something far more valuable — absolute compatibility. Each reward adapted to the needs of the person who received it. An unknown class egg might hatch into a dragon in one person's hands or a phoenix in another's. The uncertainty was what made them so rare, and the excitement came from not knowing exactly what you'd receive but trusting that it would be exactly what you needed.

"The best part," Leon thought, "is that the reward always aligns with the one who opens it, giving them the most compatible ability or item possible."

"Thank you, Cherry," Leon said out loud, unable to contain his excitement. His voice caught Millie's attention, and she turned to him with wide, curious eyes.

Lana, too, glanced at him, puzzled by who he was talking to.

"Nothing," Leon quickly waved it off, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. "I was just talking to myself."

He could feel their eyes still on him, but he didn't mind. His thoughts were already racing, anticipating what these unknown rewards could bring him.

"You should use it. And how old is Millie?" Leon asked, glancing at Lana.

"Millie is still five years away from awakening," Lana replied, handing the token back to Leon. "So, can you store this token for her until then?"

Leon nodded, taking the token and putting it back in his inventory. He couldn't use it himself since the rewards he received were already linked to Millie, making her the sole rightful owner. "I'll keep it safe," he said, though he knew once Millie claimed it, the token would vanish permanently.

"I'll use my class change token first. It's best not to make any big moves right now that could alert Brian," Lana said cautiously.

"You have a way to leave the city safely?" Leon asked.

"Yes, but it's a dangerous path. I barely survived the last time I tried it. That's why I can't take Millie with me when I leave. This cursed city isn't safe for her," Lana sighed, clearly troubled.

"What's your class, by the way?" Leon asked, curious about what she had gained.

"I received the Night Ranger class. It's a rare assassin-type class," Lana answered with pride.

"Wow, you're already so strong with a class like that. I guess if my offer had been any less, you wouldn't have accepted my request," Leon said, shaking his head with a slight grin.

Lana nodded. "I'll be gone until tonight. For now, please take care of Millie," she said as she began preparing her gear for the dangerous journey ahead.

"Don't worry, I'll watch over her," Leon replied, watching as Lana left to gather her things.
