"What place is this?" This was the seventh time I was asking this but got no answer. We were in an abandoned mansion and despite the day light, it was somehow dark but lit enough for us to see around. From my experience, I could feel the place was not safe and there was only the two of us, as the driver was ordered to remain outside.
"Silence." As usual, he shushed me without stopping his advances towards the unknown. I sighed and just walked behind him silently. I was unarmed in a place that I was dead sure was full of danger, with a man who was scarier than the devil as well as handsome as hell, and I would be living with him heaven knows for how long. I hated it but was equally excited remembering the kiss from earlier. It was so intense and the sexual tension it created between us was something I had never felt before. Not like I had kissed someone from the memories of the two years I had. I was taken aback that I actually kissed him so boldly and willingly, with the fact I had only known him not more than a day. It just felt so good and... right. If Zander did not interrupt, then maybe we would have...
"The fudge! Why did you sto...oop?" I rubbed my forehead glaring at him who had just interrupted my thoughts, and was now covering my mouth with his hand. I was about to struggle but he pulled me behind a pillar. "Shut up for once." He whispered turning his attention forward. My eyes followed his sight and understood why he had done so.
A group of heavily armed men were walking in from where we had come from and that too dragging Alaric's driver. From the look of things, he had a gunshot wound on the right side of his chest and both his legs. The armed men dispersed as if looking for something or should I say us. Those people were too many for the two of us to fight them. I was about to ask Alaric what to do but as if he sensed, he glared at me and shook his head warningly, while he placed his index finger on my lip. I froze feeling the warmth and softness, wondering if he was capable enough to defend himself if things got worse. I was a bit doubtful but the scene from earlier when he slit a man's throat like a chicken appeared in my mind clearing everything.
Nevertheless, my eyes were scrutinizing his face, studying every inch deeply and carefully, mainly his lips. They spout hard words but could drive me insane with their softness and sweetness. The way his tongue was exploring my mouth like an expert made my brain not think of anything else apart from him.
My reverie was broken when he held his phone on my face, gesturing me to look at it. I frowned for the rude interruption but still consented.
'Close your eyes for ten seconds.' He had typed on it and like my curious self, I opened them wider, looking at him with a questioning gaze. He closed his eyes annoyed rubbing his nose bridge but he still replied with a text again. 'Just do it.' He kept his phone on my hand and before I could complain, he held my cheeks with both his hands startling me. I could read from his eyes that he wanted me to do as he had asked. Unconsciously, my eyes shut and immediately I did so, Alaric's warm hands disappeared from my face. I opened my eyes but I could not see him anywhere. The first thought was he had run away leaving me behind. But the question was how could he have disappeared in a second.
I sneaked a look from the pillar only to get the shock of my life. A stock of bodies was on the ground and near the door was Alaric standing holding a man on his hair. His other hand was on his neck and without a second, he beheaded him with hell knows what. I shuddered but before I could move, a figure appeared behind Alaric about to shoot him.
"Ala..." I had not even finished and I saw a head already flying in the air. His body fell and behind him stood Alaric. How did he do that? I wondered if I had blinked my eyes and missed a part but I was sure nothing as such had happened. The man had incredible speed and within ten seconds, there was no single soul moving. He had killed all of them. I had been an assassin for more than eighteen months but for the first killing scared me. How could a man so silent be such a bad ass.
I was still in a trance and shock when I felt a finger under my chin. "Disobedient, aren't you?" He was smiling dangerously but his eyes were blank and for a flash, I thought I saw them glowing red. Maybe the blood color had affected me and was seeing everything red, I thought. "Silence suit you best."
His devilish laughter echoed across the hall then quieted immediately before grabbing his phone from my hands and walked away. I followed his figure thinking he was leaving but opposite to my thought, he walked towards a door and stopped there, then turned back.
"Wanna leave already?" I wanted to shout yes but my legs were already walking towards him. "You can wait for me in the car if you want to." He added when I reached near him.
"And end up like your driver?" I asked instantly disagreeing with that idea. I would rather stay by his side, just for now, to keep my ass alive. What would happen if I encountered such an army? "I still want to live."
I could see Alaric raise his lips a little but that smile was everything but genuine. "Good." With that, he opened the door and to my surprise, there was a lift behind it. I followed in silently though I had a lot of questions to ask but I knew it would be of no use since he would not tell me anything.
"Is this an underground basement?" I was astonished seeing the lift go downwards.
"As you can see." Came his plain answer.
I sighed and decided to try my luck again. "Will you tell me at least where we are going? I need to he prepared."
The man turned towards me and with the look on his eyes, I gave up. My eyes fell down but then, his advances towards me alerted me. I raised my head almost immediately and met his face that was leaning towards me. He had this scary gaze but it made him look quite hot. I thought that was all but he leaned closer and closer till his lips were brushing on my chin teasing. My mouth opened a little and let out a surprised sigh and was about to push him away but he held both my wrists.
"What? Getting scared?" He whispered on top of my lips seductively. "Don't worry, I won't do anything...yet. We are going to find the bastard who sent someone to assassinate me twice."
