It was after twilight and was now back in my room, having insisted on being discharged from the hospital, which Alaric took long to consent.
My mind was still occupied with everything that had happened today. It was supposed to be a joyous occasion when I regained my memory but after what that stranger had said to me, fear gripped me but most of all, my heart was in pain and fighting a battle. I didn't want to hide anything from Alaric, but if everything I was told was true, I didn't know what he would do to me. From all the things I loved, my life mattered to me most and would not let anyone snatch it away from me.
I groaned, pulling my hair, feeling mixed feelings creeping in, driving me to the edge of losing it. I stood up from the bed and started pacing up and down, thinking what to do next. Run away? Tell the truth? The latter was out of question, for I feared for my life.
