In a luxurious room, all the layers of paint were black and white, with various rare paintings adorning the walls, along with an impressive collection of weapons displayed.
On a sofa that looked expensive, a man and a woman sat facing each other, a long table serving as a barrier between them.
"Hah, this is quite surprising, being defeated by a young woman," said Pater Nelson with a soft chuckle.
"Just so you know, no one has ever beaten me in terms of strategy," he added.
"Are you done talking? Don't forget your promise," Karina said firmly, her voice loud as she prepared her knife, ready to prevent any unwanted surprises.
"Of course, I won't go back on my word. Tell me what you need," the man replied while lighting his gold cigarette with a lighter.
Karina stood up and walked around, inspecting the weapon collection. She picked up a black assault rifle, 99 cm long, and swung it slightly.
"Are you from the military?" Karina asked, as she thought only military officers usually possessed such weapons.
"Of course not. Do you have to be in the military to own firearms? Why, are you interested?" Pater approached Karina, picking up one of his pistols and playing with its trigger.
"I want this and twelve other types of firearms, along with some pistols. Don't worry, I'll pay for them," Karina added with a sharp gaze.
"Want them? Do you even know how to use these weapons?" Pater remarked dismissively.
Hearing that, Karina focused her rifle on the shooting paper behind Pater, hitting the yellow target perfectly.
"Wow, nice shot."
"I made a promise to give them, and I won't break it. I'll give you all the weapons here, along with some rare ones. But I have a request—become my adopted daughter," Pater Nelson said casually.
Karina raised an eyebrow. "Sorry, I don't need that. Just give me what I asked for," she said loudly.
"Don't be so quick to answer. As for your request, I'll have it sent immediately," Pater added.
Karina glanced at her watch, which showed 3 AM.
"I'll be waiting."
"I'll take one pistol with me," she added, carrying a small handgun.
"Of course, I'll send a guard to escort you," Pater smiled.
"Thank you, but that won't be necessary," Karina replied.
She walked out of the room, heading toward her Jeep, and drove back to her villa.
She smiled triumphantly, feeling the world was on her side as she successfully acquired more money and even a supply of weapons.
She then took out a cigarette from her pocket, and as she tried to light it with a lighter, a bright light suddenly illuminated her car. Without thinking, she jerked the steering wheel to the right.
"Damn!" she cursed as her car crashed into some bushes.
Moments later, she heard a loud crash. She got out to check the situation and saw a luxury black car had hit a tree, causing sparks to fly from its front end.
With a calm stride, she walked toward the black car, which was now catching fire.
Karina wanted to capture the moment due to her lack of empathy, but out of curiosity, she opened the front door where the driver's seat was located. Then she glanced toward the back seat and was shocked to see someone she recognized.
She had seen him in her previous life, though she didn't know him well. They had crossed paths at the base several times.
There were many rumors about him. Out of all the rumors, she only knew that he was considered the strongest zombie hunter.
However, after a battle against mutants, he mysteriously disappeared.
To gain strong allies, she had to leave a good impression, but if someone wasn't useful, she would simply ignore them.
...
In a room entirely white, where the smell of medicine filled the air, she pondered for a moment, observing her surroundings.
"Young master Jeffry, are you alright?" asked a man dressed in a black suit.
"Who are you? It seems you've got the wrong person," the man replied flatly, clutching his aching head.
A doctor in the room immediately explained, "Due to the severe impact, you've suffered temporary memory loss. You should regain everything in about a week."
"Memory loss?" the man thought, though he knew his name wasn't Jeffry. He was indeed in a hospital, but not because of an accident as the doctor had mentioned.
